📊📉📈 League tables lie. Here’s how the Premier League & EFL are looking in terms of the underlying data as we head into the international break 👀👇

Lowest % of backwards passes played in the division as per OPTA analyst after 4 matches, you'll never sing that. #ReadingFC

This is the clearest visual identifier that how we play has shifted from central play to wide play. Look how few touches are around and in the D on Wednesday compared to last season vs in the channels outside the box.
#ReadingFC's touches vs Mansfield last season and this season look at how many more touches inside the box we had on Weds! 2025/26: 10/16 shots were from outside the area 2026/27: 3/20 shots were from outside the area

First time hitting 5-0 in a home league match for 16 years since we beat Sheffield Wednesday in Feb 2010. Rasiak & Kebe both getting two each that day! #ReadingFC

On this day in 1920 Reading played their first ever game in the Football League, winning 1-0 at Newport thanks to a goal from the great Joe Bailey #readingfc

Over a decade since we’ve watched Reading win in the first league game of the season under Jaap Stam. A 1-0 win against Preston with John Swift scoring. That is ultra depressing. (No, I don’t count the Covid season which was essentially a friendly match when we beat Derby)

Obligatory joke about how proud mother and father Trialist are again at this time of year.

This one sounds like it’s rumbling on still. Would be a great backup for Marriott, but not sure if Chelsea would want more game time for him
Whilst interested about what free agents we might sign, has anyone got youth players in PL2 from this season who we should be looking at on loan for next season? A few names to me that strike out would be Mhueka from Chelsea (striker & captain with 25 goals in 33 apps).

Amadou Mbengue is set to be a major loss for Reading if his proposed move to Watford goes through, with his searing pace on the cover, and accelerations from central defence an invaluable commodity. Mbengue also ranks well for long passes from defence, averaging more per match than defensive partner Bindon. Should the Royals be eyeing a similar profile, #BAFC's Godwin-Malife also ranks very well for accelerations from defence. #WatfordFC #ReadingFC

Winger mate, have a look at the highlights - offers pretty much everything we're missing Also the highest rated player across the whole of PL2 (Fotmob) which I've only just seen youtube.com/watch?v=1IHA55Rc…

Just found this from last July, depressing to read back on how obvious it was after just 2 friendlies where the issues lay and then we all sat and watched 10 months of it.
I am a touch concerned after watching the last 2 weekends of friendlies, we appear to have zero attacking threat as it stands. O’Mahony worried me in both matches, both with how deep he drops, but also how little he adds to all round game, think 1 touch today before his yellow.

He may be in high demand this summer I feel at only 18. Jack Fletcher (AM) from Man Utd would be also interesting, and potentially Oriola (LW) from Brighton. Any other names who you know of? #ReadingFC

In my latest hard hitting (basic excel table) piece of analysis looking at Reading shots this season. In a big surprise piece of analysis, when you have more shots, or more shots on target, you end up scoring more points per game. #ReadingFC

Being serious on this, it’s clear the player who leaked information hasn’t revealed himself to the rest of the squad. That’s surely going to create distrust or at least suspicion. That’s not a good environment
“I think it’s a load of crap” Paudie when asked by Dellor if he believes there was a secret player leaking news about Leam Richardson. This story will keep on rumbling…..

The last Reading win in Yorkshire? Hull away in November 2022. We’ve gone almost the full World Cup cycle with zero wins in a county we seem to have at least 5 games a year in, which is quite incredible.

After yesterday's win away to Wycombe Wanderers, the Opta Supercomputer now gives Bradford City a 97.3% chance of finishing in the top six of League One in 2025-26. It predicts the Bantams' most likely finish to be 3rd spot (35.1%) on 78 points. #bcafc
