2 days ago, I spent 6 hours at a conference where high-level economists and finance professionals were discussing the world 5 years from now and beyond.
The core of the discussion was AI, the speed of its development, and the approaching singularity. One of the conclusions was that money as we know it will disappear, meaning that any form of fiat is entering its final stage. From that perspective, we concluded that taking full advantage of the fiat system is not only rational but potentially the most rational behavior while it still exists.
The discussion then turned to how we, as human intelligence, could maintain our position in a world increasingly dominated by AI. One conclusion was that we would need to own a form of money that AI can accept and use, that is scarce, and that is backed by energy.
We spent about 1.5 hours discussing what that form of money could be, yet no one gave it a name. One of the key points was that this money should already have an established history of use and therefore couldn’t be something newly invented.🤦🏻
