Very well-written Substack on the tragedy of GlobalFoundries; highly recommend reading it.
Obviously, I don't believe Intel will end up like GFS due to Intel historically leading in technology, demonstrating its prowess in 18A/14A, and Lip-Bu fixing customer support via management changes.
But GlobalFoundries is a lesson in what happens without strong industrial policy and the risks of splitting design & manufacturing. Neither of which is on the table (I worry more about weak industrial policy coming down the road than a split cuz Lip-Bu's here for 10 years).

When you have a platform that attracts sophisticated profitable traders, you expect better retention.
