NEW EPISODE! The Black Casebook returns with a suitably epic analysis of perhaps the single most influential story in Batman's history. Frank Miller and his collaborators called down the lightning to make this book; four decades later, we're still interpreting the thunder.

Patrick Stewart’s Professor X isn’t a good adaptation of the actual Charles Xavier in the comics, but he *is* a good adaptation of the guy Xavier wants/pretends to be
Patrick Stewart was already one of the great screen actors by the time Jean-Luc Picard and Charles Xavier made him immortal. He brought grandeur and dignity to ambitious schemers and faithful retainers alike, transforming every set into a proscenium. Colossal.
Ah, Christ.

It's counterproductive to debate the pros and cons of the USSR, but I do think more DSA types should be asking themselves this question: do you want to ameliorate conditions within capitalism, or do you want to fundamentally restructure the political economy and social relations?

Turkish intends to attend a Mike Rogers event on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Birmingham.
There, Rogers is set to take part in a forum sponsored by the Republican Jewish Coalition titled, "Who Will Keep Us Safe? Rogers vs. El-Sayed in the Wake of October 7th and the Temple Israel Attack."

Programming note: I don’t have time to record a bonus episode for Halloween, but I am in the middle of writing a piece about one of my favorite horror comics. Keep an eye out.
Early Nicolas Cage is a natural comparison for Robert Pattinson, but the more I think about it, the more Rutger Hauer seems like he might be the primary antecedent

Probably the most disturbing ending to a horror film for me. Remember showing some friends this on a shitty transfer before that Criterion edition got released and I had to rewind it to see if they saw It
Haven't been able to stop thinking about a prestige Book of the New Sun adaptation with an exclusively Steely Dan soundtrack
This might be recency bias since I finally saw it for the first time a few months ago, but I think my vote goes to Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. About as perfect as a fantasy adventure could be
In Boston, Jaylen Brown was perceived by many as the Robin to Jayson Tatum’s Batman. In truth, though, they became interchangeable depending on the situation. They were the Jays, the dynamic duo.
But what happens when Robin wants to be Batman?
