The 1983 MOD assessment of likely UK targets for Soviet air attack in wartime by different aircraft types.
An extensive network of radar, RN ships, Bloodhound & Rapier SAMS and RAF interceptors were expected to cause 20-50% losses - but only had 3 days supply of missiles.
If Andy Burnman wanted to do something useful ... when businesses say it will take 7 working days to put the money in your bank ??? In 2026 give me a break - it's the digital age no ?
In one of the bizarre deals of the century the RSAF - Saudi air force handed back 22 lightnings to British Aerospace as part of the Tornado ADV purchase - the aircraft were immaculate ( I've owned 2 🤭) but sadly no buyers were found. -only 1 has survived in what I call airworthy
Who thought writing an article every two weeks was a good idea - follow us at callsign-collective.ghost.io… -@Budge135 this week I'll be looking at paint 🎨 and how the Lightning evolved ..... it's going to be interesting 🤔

During the Falklands war I was based in Germany and a long way from the South Atlantic - @thewarzonewire @Aviation_Intel has posted a really good article on the conflict and the thorny issue of taking out the Super Etendards ~ a very capable subsonic fighter

Some great photos have been released of a SAAF Rooivalk at the Dragon Peaks Park camp in the Drakensberg, for the first time in quite a few years.
The camp, in which crews train in high-altitude mountain conditions, featured 3 A109s, an Oryx & BK117 in addition to the Rooivalk.

For those of you who thought the visit from a Bedford Borough Council official to investigate our daughter Zoe’s (age 12) pretend teddy bear cafe was too ridiculous to be real, here is the arrival of official. This is totally legit. She really did show up at our property to investigate the illegal teddy bears having their coffee🧸🧸☕️☕️
Low level air defence - highly dangerous sport - or in modern speak high octane high adrenaline- we had pretty strict rules about bank angles and nose below the horizon - never really scared myself at low altitude I think the adrenaline kept me safe
I'd been trying for a while to get a photo of the European F-16s at the time - just Belgium / Holland / Denmark and Norway but the Norwegian F-16 went tech ... close but no cigar
I probably know more about this particular aircraft than I should - the first British aircraft to exceed Mach 2.0 it's a rare breed - missile with a man in it
