If you've never seen it, The Rainbow Thief is quite an experience (it's by Alejandro Jodorowsky, so not a surprise!). Ian plays a bartender who interacts a lot with Omar Sharif - this is only a few years after the infamous altercation at La Caprice where Omar punched Ian!

Dad saw ian Dury at a venue in Shepard's Bush, London back in the 70's. He went to the gig because Split Enz were playing and they opened for Ian Dury. Dad said Split Enz were good, but Ian dury and the Blockheads blew them out of the water.

I met Ian and the band backstage at a gig at the Michael Sobel sports centre just after this. I had a mate whose Sister was dating / married to?Norman and I actually drove them all home to their house in Fulham after the gig.
