South Africa picks Iran with $0.0118 billion in trade over the United States with $28.8 billion in trade. 🇿🇦
The South African government is antagonising the United States, with which it has $28.8 billion in trade, and befriends Iran, with which it has $0.0118 billion in trade.

Hey! Woolworths supports every employee’s right to vote. Ahead of election day, store shifts were planned and staggered so that colleagues scheduled to work have time to get to their voting stations 🙂

The South African government blocked Starlink from operating here due to the ownership being too White.
They then promised to create their own version of it, and set aside huge money for this new SOE.
It turned out to just be an agency for another overseas Satelite Internet Company: incredibly slow, and 3 times more expensive than Starlink.
Four months later the entire company and the all money have disappeared.

The IEC wants your trust. Then it needs to earn it.
Special votes cast on 2 and 3 Nov now sit sealed until counting on Wednesday. The IEC's own rules say party agents may record the seals on those ballots. Yet in Mbombela Ward 15, agents allege a presiding officer refused to let them photograph the seals. Why?
In Umdoni, KZN, three ballot boxes, stationery and signage were stolen overnight from a voting station, despite a guard. The IEC says no ballot papers were taken. Good. But why are election materials left sitting at stations overnight at all?
And on day one, the IEC said 99% of stations opened on time. Pressed on it, it admitted only 94% opened on time with enough materials. In Cape Town, 217 stations opened late because ballots had to be reprinted.
None of this proves rigging, and some "rigging" videos doing the rounds are recycled 2024 footage. Verify before you share. But the IEC must answer these questions openly, not with vague warnings about disinformation.
Why it matters: an election is only as credible as its transparency. Every unanswered question gives doubt room to grow.

The decision by rising ANC star Parks Tau to award the R800 billion lottery tender to the putrid deputy president and his cronies is set aside.
This is pretty big — the High Court set aside the appointment of Sizekhaya as lottery operator. This after @azarrahk exposed its links to the Mashatile network, and following the @EFFSouthAfrica challenging it in court. news24.com/investigations/lo…
In December 2023, the anc decided to take Israel to the ICJ. The same anc that allowed a wanted Sudanese war criminal to escape arrest in SA. The same anc that denied the Dali Lama entry to the country.
It was obvious to all that the anc had decided to do the bidding of the IRGC and their terror network, and it was also obvious that it was done for financial gain.
It was a seismic and reckless decision, motivated by greed, and now millions of South Africans have lost out on the AGOA trade deal.
And they had every chance to make things right. All they had to do was prove they’re in line with Western standards by rejecting immoral racial laws, guarantee property rights and stop singing songs about killing minorities, but they arrogantly and stupidly refused now we must all suffer.
There is no one to blame but the selfish and ever incompetent anc. And believe me, it’s still going to get worse for them. This was the decoupling step. Next comes sanctions.
The sooner the anc and their ideology of failure is gone, the better.

As RW Johnson once said, you can have a growing economy or the ANC, but not both.
"We change at the speed of pain." CNN's Richard Quest threw that line at a plenary in Sun City last month, in a room filled with South Africa's top economists. The occasion was the South African Property Owners Association's (SAPOA) 60th annual convention, and the people listening were the landlords, developers, lenders and fund managers who own and finance a large share of the buildings this country works and lives in.
Quest's point was that South Africa usually waits until things get bad enough before it fixes them. With local government elections on 4 November, most delegates wanted to know how much more pain property owners must absorb before change arrives.
Professor Adrian Saville of the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) set the tone with a keynote that didn't sugarcoat anything. South Africa has been stuck at roughly 1% economic growth for about 15 years. Back in 1980, production sectors like mining made up around half of our economy. Today they make up less than a fifth. Saville called our economy "hollowed out" and added that income per person is now lower than in 2010.
Anyone who owns property knows a building earns money only if someone pays to use it. Offices need companies that are hiring, and flats need tenants with jobs. When an economy barely grows for 15 years, demand for space grows slowly too, and so do rentals and values. Saville told the room that SAPOA members sit at the centre of South Africa's growth engine. If the engine stalls, the buildings feel it first.
