- Hip replacement in Boston costs $17,900 at one hospital, and at a nearby hospital, it costs $74,000 for the exact same surgery
- Researchers have found MRI prices varying as much as 9x within a single city
- One analysis found that 60% of insurer-negotiated hospital rates were higher than the hospital's own cash price

- Cash discounts averaged about 64% of normal price, this is often cheaper than insurance rates

Boston Judge George O’Toole, a Bill Clinton appointee, blocked DHS from fining people who ignore a final deportation order.
The penalty: $998 a day. Retroactive. Up to $1.8 MILLION.
DHS has already issued more than 103,000 of these fines, about $84 BILLION, since Trump came back.
O’Toole’s reason? Collecting the money might push them into “insolvency.”
They were ordered to leave. They stayed.

A Brooklyn judge told a defendant the Second Amendment doesn’t exist in her courtroom, then gave him 10 years.
Dexter Taylor had no record and no victim. After NYPD tracked gun parts to his Bushwick apartment, they raided it on April 6, 2022 and took 13 firearms he’d built, plus a 3D printer.
Two months later, Bruen struck down New York’s handgun permit law. When Taylor went to trial in 2024, Judge Abena Darkeh barred that defense: “don’t bring the Second Amendment in here, this is New York.”
On May 13, she sentenced him to 10 years. Parole doesn’t start until 2032.
