I basically agree with McInnes here, I've been critical of Fernandez and in the detail he has contributed to poor goals lost this season and I thought he was off it last night, but the team has been playing well for decent period and he has been a big part of that. He is also still developing.
Who's to say he's not a key reason why Makanya has been flourishing?
Could/should be rested at points for Godfrey but Fernandez is a big player and character for us when all is said and done.
Shades of the Amoruso situation 25yrs ago, criticised, but fundamental part of the team.

You do know your club Hearts changed companies in 1905 to avoid debt liabilities?
So by your rationale a team that wasn't Hearts were playing a team that wasn't Rangers last night.
Replying to @j_bmal @Bobmcphail1872
We definitely weren't playing Rangers last night.
The crowd pointed this out on numerous occasions.
Thanks for confirming you're a tribute act.
WOOOOOOOAAAAAHHHH😂
And you're more annoyed at us cos we took your manager, captain and official fan voted player of the year, than the club who cheated and ridiculed you out of your first title since Greyfriars Bobby was taking shits in his graveyard.
Small time.
Hearts support exemplifying why they are small time and always will be, the "Shankland Judas" banner and the Cammy Devlin / McInnes songs speaks to a deeply embedded inferiority complex - a complex which is absolutely justified btw, but wilfully ignorant to their place in the food chain.
I get it, they've been scorned by their heroes, but still embarrassing.
Arguably our worst domestic performance of the season, frustratingly sub-par all over the pitch except for Pandur and Makanya who is utter class.
Just as Dens Park was two points blown against the odds, tonight was actually a point won. Should've stole all 3 at the death too... So we move on with damage limited.
Now for Saturday, let's see the real Rangers again. 🇬🇧
I just spent an hour in the dentists chair getting a filling, at one point it became torturous, just imagine being stuck and completely helpless, nothing else but just having to endure it, praying for it to end soon.
It wasn't the filling, Gerry Cinnamon came on the radio.
"Better for Scotland" my arse, what a disgrace (just add it to the pile)
Astounding Sunday Times investigation reveals new scandal in SNP’s Socialist Scotland:
800 NHS, central government, council and quango workers whose jobs no longer exist but remain on the public payroll because of the SNP’s ‘no public-sector redundancy’ policy.
Estimated cost of paying people to do nothing: £27m a year.
One NHS Highland worker has been receiving a full salary and benefits for 17 years despite not having a specific job.
The health board refused to say what the worker had been doing for almost two decades and how much they had been paid.
Likely cost to the taxpayer is expected to be far higher with several public bodies refusing to disclose salaries for hundreds of the workers awaiting redeployment.
On the red card, Sportscene's Thompson and McFadden don't think it was one 😂 this despite McFadden's rationale including "Valakari doesn't have a problem with it" and "it doesn't look good". Great logic.
It's genuinely one where if it was a Rangers player doing it I wouldn't even argue that it was a red. Studs up, mid-shin, and the conditions are no excuse. Clearly endangering an opponent ffs.

Terrible tackle by St Johnstone player. Whole stadium goes ‘oooh’. Referee doesn’t even give a foul. Called over by VAR to check. Red card.
Everybody in the STADIUM knew it was a red immediately…bar the referee 🤦♂️
Bookmark this turkey folks.
This is like saying "that young Beethoven whipper snapper hasn't even written a concerto yet despite being a child prodigy"
It's the mother of all bad takes.
That was a really solid performance in stinking conditions, from what I think is our best starting XI for home games.
Minsu is only 20yrs old, he is something special and a bonafide game changer for us. His lower body strength, ability to run with the ball at pace, and slide a pass reminds me of someone who was also special but I'm not gonnae say his name...
Also Kelsy scored two "easy" goals - exactly the bread and butter striker type we've struggled to get regularly for ages. Him and Naderi are a lovely front two combo with their own style of strength, workrate and ability in the box.
A good Saturday 🇬🇧
