When can you trust a FibroScan in autoimmune hepatitis? 🧵
Our new paper in Clinical and Translational Gastroenterology suggests it's less about correcting for inflammation and more about timing.

Limitations: single center, retrospective, and small subgroups at some time points. These findings need validation in larger cohorts.

6/7 One signal worth following: in PSC alone, higher stiffness tracked with worse itch (ρ −0.37, p=0.009), not seen in PBC. It was unadjusted and exploratory, so it needs confirmation in larger, longitudinal, multicenter cohorts.
7/7 Take-home: a normal or low FibroScan doesn't mean a patient feels well. Ask about fatigue and itch directly and measure PROs alongside labs and elastography.

1/6 🧵 New #PBC milestone: the EASL–AASLD Delphi consensus on surrogate endpoints, real-world evidence & patient-reported outcomes is out, co-published in @JHepatology and @HEP_Journal. Why it matters for every patient on 2nd-line therapy 👇 #LiverTwitter
5/6 The result: agreement on 16 statements and 42 recommendations across 3 domains:
1️⃣ Biomarkers & surrogate endpoints
2️⃣ Real-world data and evidence
3️⃣ Patient-reported outcomes
6/6 Bottom line: a practical, regulator-aligned framework to expand the approval pathway for new PBC therapies, with patients at the table. Read it here: doi.org/10.1016/j.jhep.2026.… @AASLDtweets @EASLnews
