CALGARY, ALBERTA — Convicted serial sex offender Duran Ross Buffalo, 41, could spend the rest of his life behind bars after prosecutors announced they are seeking a dangerous offender designation and an indefinite prison sentence. Buffalo has been convicted of sexually abusing six females since 1999, including five minors and a 90-year-old Calgary woman whom he violently raped in her own bed after breaking into her apartment on January 1, 2021. A Calgary jury convicted Buffalo of aggravated sexual assault and break and enter in February 2025. Crown prosecutor Matt Dalidowicz described Buffalo's history of sexual violence as repetitive and escalating, arguing that his behaviour demonstrates a persistent disregard for his victims. According to the Crown, psychological and psychiatric assessments place Buffalo in the highest risk category for sexual reoffending across every assessment tool used. Prosecutors also pointed to Buffalo's history of ignoring court orders and his lack of interest in substance abuse treatment. The Crown is now seeking an indeterminate prison sentence, which could keep Buffalo incarcerated indefinitely. His release would depend on future decisions by the Parole Board of Canada.

TORONTO, ONTARIO — Toronto Police have arrested 33-year-old Waleed Ameen Adam Abdelrahman after an alleged sexual assault on October 19, 2026. Police allege Abdelrahman approached a victim at Barbara Hall Park near Church Street and Gloucester Street, provided them with illicit substances, and then took them to a private residence, where he allegedly provided more illicit substances before sexually assaulting them.
