"From a conversion allocation perspective, it's quite terrible for other advertisers to be running Google Ads."
Me
First time I'm seeing this in Experiments
You can allow Google to auto-apply the experiment, if the treatment arm wins.
2 options:
Use directional results (basically: slight improvements, even if not statistically significant)
Google Stock Is Tanking
Google stock dropped over 11% after its latest earnings report. The big reason? Search ad growth came in at 12% instead of the expected 15%.
As a PPC guy, here’s how I look at it:
3. AI Agents Might Kill Clicks
Short term, Google has to figure out how to make money off AI chats.
Longer term, there's a bigger problem: AI Agents.
Once AI bots start doing research and buying things for humans (if it ever happens at scale), nobody will be clicking on ads.
I'm a sucker for a good competitor ad.
"SEO & SEM Without The Rush"
Whoever wrote this is a legend!
😂
But...why does it work?
Because it's clever without trying too hard.
Someone searches for Semrush.
SE Ranking shows up with an ad that:
- Plays on the competitor's name
- Makes the brand instantly relevant
- Communicates a benefit in just six words
“Would you trust a 14-day AI Max test with these results?”
I was asked this on a podcast last week:
- 41% more form fills
- 43% fewer qualified leads
- 76% higher cost per qualified lead
The increase in cost per qualified lead wasn’t. But the bigger point: 14 days isn’t a sample size. Whether I’d trust a test depends on the volume, how it was set up, and whether leads had enough time to qualify - not just how long it ran.
