can't emphasize enough how important it was for the mavericks to reset as a franchise this past summer. you can feel the renewed vibes in every possession. it makes last season feel like even more of a waste of time in retrospect but better late than never. this is fun.

this cooper flagg/jason kidd argument is just....sigh. it's like trying to catch the wind. we don't know how much the coop at PG experiment actually accelerated his development. this isn't 2k, we can't see the sliders move up. was there *some* benefit? probably? but who cares.

jason kidd is a hall of famer, all time point guard and NBA champion. do we have to bend over backward to give him extra credit for developing stars? I dunno. he's gone now, it's a new regime. let's argue about something else.

bottom line: regardless of who was coop's coach his rookie year, or whatever tactics they used, this second year growth was always going to happen because it's obvious flagg is an all time talent.

according to cleaning the glass data, cooper flagg has logged zero possessions at point guard so far this season. in fact, they have him with zero possessions at the two-guard as well. everything is at the two forward spots.

people like to say these end of the roster moves don't really matter, don't get worked up about it, and that's true to an extent. but matching cisse's offer sheet from the knicks to then waive him later in this second-apron world would have been objectively bad.
