Behind the scenes with @gregrakestraw gearing up for @IndyEleven and @DetroitCityFC in @USLChampionship play airing on @wrtv. – at Indianapolis, IN
Great perspective @LVHoosierGK
Perspective:
Italy 4x World Cup Champion did not qualify for three Cups in a row.
Germany 4x World Cup Champion out in round of 32
Brazil 5x World Cup Champion out round of 16
Uruguay 2x World Cup Champion did not make it out
of group play.
Netherlands multiple World Cup finalist out round of 32.
Perhaps we need to take a pause and think how far we have come since 1990 when college guys filled the roster of our national team when we qualified for Italy.
It’s not a perfect process but it’s a process for us.
Globally, outside of the 8 teams that have won it, Round of 16 is a solid WC.
For a country that is used to being at the top of every sport we have created (football, baseball and basketball) we find it hard not to be at the top of the ladder with soccer. We created the #1 foam finger for gods sake. Hockey is a perfect example of this. Top league in the world and we do not dominate global hockey when it comes to world hockey championships on the mens side
So take breath, sit back and reflect on what a wonderful spectacle this has been so far and enjoy the rest of the World Cup.
