Out just now at @NatureComms and a great start into the New Year: we reveal how yeast cytoplasmic γ-TuRC is assembled and activated by dimeric CM1 motifs of the receptor protein Spc72 and how the microtubule polymerase Stu2 binds to promote MT assembly. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Very excited that our work describing the structure of native y-TuRC-capped microtubules is finally out! Special thanks to our great collaborators, especially my co-first authors @QIGAO31314616 and Anna Böhler.
Out just now @embojournal: our cryo-EM structure of the native RanGTP-induced γ-TuRC-capped microtubule, revealing a surprisingly asymmetric minus end architecture with direct implications for microtubule regulation and modulation during spindle assembly. embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…

#Teixobactin, isolated from 'unculturable' bacteria, is considered the first new 💊#antibiotic💊 in 30 years. But how does it kill bacteria? We show teixobactin uses a new mechanism that involves a double attack on the cell envelope Out @Nature nature.com/articles/s41586-0… #NMR 1/n

Proud to share the work done during my master's thesis in the Weingarth lab, together with the Roux lab! We reveal that inactivation of voltage-gated potassium channels is probably different than has been assumed in the field for over a decade.
New preprint from the lab, collab with the Roux lab. Inactivation in K+ channels is associated with constriction of the selectivity filer. This is textbook knowledge. We show that this dogma does likely not apply to Kv channels - there's no constriction. Quote Tweet
