The Bengals were not ready to play meaningful football today. This is otherwise known as a Zac Taylor special. #whodey

People call being a sports fan a one-sided relationship. You give a team decades, and it doesn’t even know your name. Then you see a video like this. An 81-year-old man in a Brewers jersey, crying, with his wife next to him, watching his team win the World Series. The Brewers came to Milwaukee in 1970, when he was about 25. They made the World Series once, in 1982, and lost in seven games. He waited 56 years, through decades of losing seasons, to see this. You don’t see an 81-year-old in that video. You see the kid who started rooting for them. The psychologist Daniel Wann has spent years studying why fans stay. His research found that identifying with a local team gives people real connections: the friends you watch with, the strangers you high-five, the shared language of a city. In one of his studies of older fans, with an average age around 71, people who identified more strongly with a local team reported feeling less lonely. So maybe it’s not as one-sided as it looks. The team never learns his name. But it gave him 56 years of people to share it with, and one night he’ll never forget.
You may see an 81 year old man crying after waiting decades to see his favorite team win the World Series but I see a 15 year old kid living in the moment.

You could hand this Bengals defense a 3rd and 45 and they'd still find a way to give up a 1st down #Bengals

Incredible
This isn't just a hot streak anymore. This is ridiculous. Electridad. Elly De La Cruz over his last 28 games: .411 AVG 🚀 1.245 OPS 9 HR ⚡ 7-for-7 SB 26 runs He's reached base in 27 of those 28 games. And now he's sitting at 29 HR / 29 SB. Are we watching the best stretch of Elly's career? The SBs are fun to see.

Barry Larkin following today's Reds loss: "...change has to happen. This city deserves better than that, and I know every player down there feels that. But something has to give..." h/t @HeyGingersaurus

It's like they aren't even trying to win...
The Reds have 5 of the worst 9 hitters in all of baseball (>150 PA's). Nick Krall traded for 4 of those players.

Analytics have ruined baseball. Baseball needs .300 hitters chasing .400. It needs line drives to the gaps, singles turned into doubles with speed. It doesn't need everybody swinging for the fences and striking out 200 times. Give me a team full of high OBP/high contact guys
Like him or not, this is how you hit. This guy hit for average and power. Teach this type of hitting again and the game will be better. It will be more exciting, it will be a much better offensive product. Thank you Alex.

There might not be a sweeter sound in sports than perfect contact with a wooden bat followed by an absolute no-doubt home run

I'm so sad I'm going to lose an entire year of baseball due to the MLBPA being too stubborn to insert a cap that every major sport leauge has

“So you paid for a subscription to watch Reds baseball this year?” “That’s right.” “And the team has been terrible your entire life?” “That’s correct Dave” “And you thought that this year would be different?” “Yes” “Are the games at least fun to watch?” “No” “Is the broadcast at least enjoyable?” “No Dave”

THIS! Nothing like a tournament game with community support. Signs all around town. Bus rides you remember years later with some of your best friends! You can't get that with travel ball!
I coach varsity H.S. baseball and travel ball… and I’d take H.S. baseball every single time. The school pride. The community. The rivalries. The pressure to win. The packed playoff games. Playing for your town. In my eyes H.S. baseball just means more.
