It’s so funny when Raven does this because she was at the scene of all the Blackest media. The only peer doing similarly iconic Black ass movies and tv shows was Kyla Pratt yet she doesn’t feel the need to tell us Penny Proud and Brianna Barnes were universal 😭
I already knew this is what she meant. Raven is obsessed with being “universal” and has been for years. She sees being a “Black celebrity” as limiting, she’s obsessed with telling us that white people also watched her, obsessed with the idea of a colorless legacy.

I think sometimes “performative” is what ppl call public commitments they don't want to take seriously. Once you reduce someone's principles to status-seeking, you can dismiss their motives w/o engaging w/ what they're saying. Cynicism is a way of avoiding moral scrutiny yourself

It’s disappointing to have to say this, but @CBSNews, this is a serious failure of editorial reporting. I clearly state in this clip that while I have not personally been to Cuba, I have spoken with Cubans who have described it as a dictatorship, and I believe them. To claim I declined to answer the question is categorically false. That is not journalism. It is misinformation.

I’m not confused. She’s exhibited many of the trappings Kanye displayed before he went full Nazi mode: being unnecessarily provocative, fear of losing control, the “everyone’s after me” mentality, courting abusers, misogyny, homophobia, religious mania, conspiracy theories, etc. The natural end to pushing the edge this way is that you end up in some deep, dark place and it’s so easy to get there when your ego is the organising principle around your worldview.
