The Ukombozi name should not become another arena for opposition leaders to fight over ownership while Kenyans are waiting for a serious political alternative.
The Registrar has stated that the proposed Ukombozi People’s Party name was not approved because it resembles the already reserved Ukombozi Alliance.
Kalonzo may have the right to rebrand his coalition, but political unity cannot be built through attempts to control every identity associated with the opposition.
Names don't liberate people—ideas, organisation and leadership do.
If Ukombozi is truly about bringing Kenyans together, then it should be bigger than Kalonzo, bigger than Sifuna and bigger than any individual political camp.
Kenya needs an opposition that competes on vision and solutions, not one that fights over who owns a name.

Met the Executive Director of UNODC and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, @Monica_Juma_, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
We agreed to establish a team bringing together the Ministry of Interior, the Office of the Attorney-General, the Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies to develop a strategy on cybercrime, maritime crime, border control and drug abuse.
We will deepen cooperation with UNODC on training and strengthening law enforcement capacity, while exploring collaboration on standards for the treatment of drug abuse.
We will also advance the necessary internal processes on the cybercrime convention, including submitting the matter to Parliament in a timely manner.

I have just learnt that Senator Cyrus Jirongo passed away last December in a motor accident. I was not aware that he had died.
This is very sad. Jirongo was a good and patriotic leader who served his country with dedication. We shall miss him. My condolences go to his family, relatives, friends and the people of Kenya. May his soul rest in peace.
