Except that there is really no military threat to Greece from Turkey.. and if there was, NATO would be the main framework to deescalate and stop the madness.. A symbolic French presence means nothing if this was genuinely a risk or an issue.. This is more about France’s East Med ambitions and positioning.

Turkey does not love Russia or Iran, in fact they are adversaries.. Turkey does not fund Hamas or Muslim Brotherhood.. Turkey already has one of the largesr F16 fleets in the world.. and hosts US nukes.. and radar systems that provide missile defence intelligence.. Fair to criticise Ankara on many issues.. And yes, Turkey and Israel are now direct competitors for regional influence.. Anyone with an iota of understanding of foreign policy would recognize how insane this comparison is, given that Turkey has one of NATO’s largest standing militaries and a robust domestic defense industry spanning drones, air defense, and naval assets.
Framing this through a 1967 lens is not serious analysis and I’m sure deep down Rubin knows that.
But this “analysis” is meant to serve a purpose, which is to normalize preemptive war rhetoric against Turkey so that any Isreali escalation (if it were to ever come to that) is framed as a logical next step rather than a manufactured one.
