Boxers have to have a certain level of delusion to overcome setbacks but this is next level
I loved watching Fury box, went mad when he beat Wlad and Wilder and even I can admit he lost comfortably to Usyk (twice)
You'd think Turki would have just funded versions of this in every division
Then he could've taken the winners to Zuffa / the Ring if he wanted
Definitely what I'd do with unlimited funds in boxing
Not sure many would argue he's a man of principles
Eddie Hearn says Dana White and TKO could still be involved in Fury-Joshua:
“They could potentially be involved. They already offered $10 million to be involved.
I’m happy to talk, but you can’t just presume that we’re going to allow you to breach an agreement, walk all over us and talk the way you’ve spoken.
Everyone will always tell you about me: he’s a man of principles. But there’s always a deal to be done. We can work it out, and we can all win, but not like this.”
Don't think a children's charity would be up in arms about a 30 Yr old
👀 Frank Warren on Ben Whittaker's performance: "Anyone who makes [Dmitry Bivol vs. Whittaker] should be reported to the NSPCC. He's a nice guy, good luck to him and Matchroom done a good job in promoting him — they got everybody talking about him — but you've got to have some substance and the substance at the end of the day just isn't there." AND STILL
Bilal Fawaz retains his British welterweight title in emphatic fashion
Ref Ron Kearney jumps in at the right time
Note the subtle shift from "promoting" to "producing" nitter.cf/BoxingKingdom14/status…
This is exactly why people look to hate on Ben Whittaker
A lot of traditionalists hate anyone trying to stand out or express themselves
It's what gets eyes on him and help creates hype
It also increases scrutiny on him immensely
Boxing like this and going the distance isn't a good look though - if it is "too easy" like he says, then he needs to prove it. Get the supposed lesser fighters out of there sharpish and move onto the next level!
I think they will eye Buatsi-Hutchinson winner for the interim
They really have to be be reconsidering putting Whittaker in with Bivol after that
Similar story to the Conor Benn thing.
No area title
No English title
No British title
No commonwealth title
No European title
Where is the professional grounding, and upgrade of opponents that prepares them for the “big one”? Yes Wallace showed some nuts them last 3 rounds but that is not an “eliminator” level fight is it?
Throwing these guys in at the deep end with fighters like Garcia and Bivol just isn’t the right thing to do
Watched this back a few times and I have no idea how Whittaker hasn't been docked a point here
Either for being knocked down or taking Wallace down
