Prepared partial maxilla of Daspletosaurus in 2019. I opened a box full of bags of surface collected items a few weeks ago. Many of pieces were part of it and it became a huge maxilla in the end 🦖

白亜紀後期のアジア大陸に生息していた堅頭竜下目のパキケファロサウルス科の恐竜。
本種は堅頭竜類の中でも鼻面が急傾斜で、頭頂部が高く盛り上がっている独特な頭部をしています。
学名は、｢腫れた(胼胝の)頭｣という意味。

本日の調査対象より、"Sphaerotholus"！
昨日に引き続きパキケファロサウルス類ですね。
パキの仲間では数少ない、下顎が見つかってる標本なので、その価値は計り知れないです。
現在ではStegocerasの近縁である可能性も指摘されており、追加標本の発見が待たれる所です。
