How I Became A person With A disability♿️ 📌I was born like any other normal child but at the age of 2 years when i was taken for immunization the doctor used an expired vaccine and he injected it into me. 📌I started feeling pain and i couldn’t walk my left leg became stagnant with growth as my right leg was growing normally, we went to Mulago Hospital for 6months plus as the doctors were trying to balance the two legs 🦵 📌But it was all in vein, we went back home but i had started crawling that’s when my daddy introduced me to using a stick to walk because i had to go school. 📌I went to Nursery,Primary,Secondary,Institute and University on my stick my daddy introduced me too till now. 📌After university Covid-19 came and since the mode of the day was about hygiene that is when i learnt how to make Liquid Soap along the way i got some challenges and thought about looking for a job in IT because that is the cause i did at campus(digital marketing) Mr @deejahn was/is mentoring in digital. 📌I applied somewhere and everything went on well but when the Human Resource got to know she was going to employ a person with a disability everything ended there, I was disappointed and asked myself why did i go to school even, 📌By then madam @fsnakazibwe was my customer i shared with her and she advised me to better stick to my business and glow it because the employment world think persons with disabilities can’t execute to the level of their companies. 📌From my conversation with her i started thinking about my fellow youth with disabilities who need helpers full time if they can’t employ me who can juggle around with out a help,for-example (those with visual impairment, hearing and some who use wheelchairs) 📌That is when i started thinking about young boys and girls with disabilities who are at the university who think that after campus we will get jobs if the employment space still has this negative attitude towards persons with disabilities. 📌I started sharing my empowerment skills with my fellow persons with disabilities and the community that believes in us and am proud that now am the Executive Director of a youth and disability led organization known as @TwezuuleF #DisabilityPrideMonth #Twezuule

"Autism is not a tragedy. It's a different way of experiencing the world, and it deserves understanding, not judgment." Mr Joe sat down with us for a deep, honest conversation about autism, and it reminded us that behind every diagnosis is a person who feels, dreams, and deserves to be seen. On 7th November 2026, let's show up for them at the Run for Autism Awareness 2026, 7:00AM at Acres of Fun Pre School, Muyenga. Because awareness is where acceptance begins. #runforautism2026 @JKA_autismrun

Who Remembers Africa’s Givers? “How do we remember African givers and philanthropists?” @LeandreBanon and I wondered aloud. We had just stopped at a World War memorial cemetery during our #WalkTalkConnect through Accra. The grounds were beautifully maintained. Rows of headstones stood in remembrance of those who had lost their lives in war. Elsewhere at the memorial, names were carefully inscribed on a wall. We paused for a moment of silence. Standing there, I was struck by the care taken to preserve the memory of those who had gone before us. Their names had been recorded. Their contributions acknowledged. A place had been set aside to remember them. And that got us thinking about African givers and philanthropists. Across Africa, we have long traditions of generosity. People have given money, land, food, time, knowledge and care. They have educated children, built institutions, supported neighbours and sustained entire communities. Some of these givers are well known. Many others are not. Their generosity may never have made headlines, but it changed lives. And in many cases, its impact continues long after they are gone. So how do we remember them? How do we preserve their stories and ensure that future generations know about them? Of course, Africans have always had ways of remembering. Through oral histories, family stories, songs, community traditions and institutions that carry the names of those who came before us. But how intentional are we about documenting these histories? How accessible are they? And how many stories are disappearing as the generations that carry them pass on? I have been thinking a great deal about the importance of documenting African giving. Not only the generosity of wealthy and prominent philanthropists, but also the everyday acts of giving that have shaped our families and communities. Memory matters. It tells us something about who we are, what we value and what we choose to pass on. Standing at that memorial, I wondered what an African book of remembrance for givers and philanthropists might look like. Whose names would it carry? Whose stories would it tell? And who would be responsible for keeping those memories alive? We can begin with the stories closest to us. Whose generosity do you remember? And who is telling their story? #WalkTalkConnect #AfricanPhilanthropy #StoriesOfGenerosity @CivLegacy_F @CivsourceAfrica

With support from 🇩🇰🇸🇪🇳🇱🇮🇪, our Napak Field Office facilitated a locus mediation in Rapada Village, Napak District, involving two former partners who cohabited for 14 years and have four children together. The dispute concerned jointly acquired family land and a separate piece of land purchased by the woman using her Parish Development Model funds. Following mediation and legal guidance, FIDA-Uganda guided the parties on their respective property interests and also the parties agreed to preserve the jointly acquired land for their children, with a gift deed to be prepared to formalise the arrangement. This engagement reflects FIDA-Uganda’s continued advocacy for the recognition of women in cohabiting relationships, the protection of their property rights and the recognition of their contributions to family assets. ⚖️ #RDEProject #AccessToJustice
