From the beginning, Build American AI has argued that America needs smart and balanced rules for artificial intelligence. That same principle applies to the infrastructure that powers AI.
We can protect ratepayers, safeguard our natural resources, respect the right of communities to decide whether they want to welcome this investment, and still build the infrastructure America needs to lead the world in artificial intelligence. The continued build out of data centers and new energy infrastructure must benefit communities first and we will support leaders who advance policies that achieve that goal.
States including Colorado, Georgia, and Texas, along with many others advanced by Governors across the political spectrum, are striking a strong and smart balance that should be replicated across the country.
Communities have legitimate questions about energy, water, land use, and costs.
They deserve honest answers. We need moderate voices in the conversation to create and implement a transparent process with strong protections and real accountability. The stakes are too high to allow the loudest and most extreme voices to dictate America's future. Driving responsible investment away will cost Americans good-paying jobs, weaken communities and undermine America's ability to lead.
Building the Future will support Republicans and Democrats who believe America can lead the world in AI while protecting families and empowering local communities.
