When IV is high, so is option pricing, and so is the cost of being wrong on size.
On the @Public API, you can pull IV and all five Greeks for up to 250 contracts in one request, add up your book’s vega, and send a 6-leg order, all from your own code.
Volatility is the market’s price for uncertainty. When it moves, everything else gets repriced: option premiums, position sizes, stop distances, hedge ratios.
If you trade through the @Public API, you can measure volatility, take a view on it and manage your exposure to it, all from your own code. You set every parameter.
Measure it
• Pull historical equity and options bars and calculate realized volatility your own way
• Pull real-time implied volatility and Greeks for up to 250 contracts per request
• Compare implied with realized to see whether options look rich or cheap by your measure
Trade it
• Multi-leg orders with up to 6 legs, so straddles, strangles, spreads and condors go out as a single order
• Options limit orders up to $500K notional
Know your exposure
• Delta, gamma, theta, vega and rho come back on every option quote under optionDetails.greeks
• Add them up across your book to see your net delta and vega before you add more risk
Define your exits
• Bracket and OTO orders with take-profits and stop-losses
• Trailing stops that follow the price by a dollar amount or a percentage
• Replace order lets you change a price or size without canceling first
Know before you send
• Preflight checks an order against the limits before you submit it
• orderId deduplication means a retry after a timeout never creates a duplicate order
Pretty amazing what you can build on APIs now- I can run a full desk across equities, ODTE, and futures on my phone

the ultimate order type
New on the Public API: Trailing stop loss orders.
Set a trailing amount or percentage, and your stop price automatically adjusts as the market moves in your favor.

Many have been asking - I’m really excited about this for options traders. You can now trail brackets and oco by amount or percentage- huge unlock..how would you use these in your setup?

If you’re building order logic for size on the @public API, these are the limits to plan around:
Don’t hardcode tick sizes or precision. Option price increments and per-symbol crypto precision come from the instruments endpoint
Limits are enforced when an order is placed. Run orders through the preflight endpoint first so your system catches a rejection before it happens

Your backtest could have a lookahead bug.
If you pull bars mid-session, the final bar is still forming. Drop it before computing signals, or your results are using data that didn’t exist yet.
Historical equity and options data are free on the @Public API:
