It is patient requested and requires more than a simple request. There are strict guidelines that ensure that all treatments have been considered prior to any end of life discussions taking place
As a "Disabled person"... stop exaggerating
Anybody entering a hospital in Canada with a condition qualifying as "grievous and irremediable" will, as a matter of policy, be offered MAID. For some disabled people, this means that every single interaction with the medical system may require them to state (sometimes multiple times) that they don't want hospital staff to kill them. This is one hell of an imperfection you are choosing to defend.

The easiest way to OPT out is to pack your bags and move to a country that allows you the "freedom" to pay for every procedure out of pocket or pay a private insurer to cover 50-80% of the cost after your $5000 deductible & your premiums are due even if you don't use it.
