We are beyond thrilled to officially announce the close of our Seed Fund II at $50M. With 33 Burnt Islanders already part of the crew, weโre doubling down on our mission to find, fund, and scale the most ambitious founders tackling the $1.6 trillion water market. We're delighted to continue supporting the next generation of water entrepreneurs addressing critical areas in advanced treatment, water access, climate adaptation and more.
The biggest thank you to our anchor investor @Xylem, our long-term partners at WovenEarth Ventures, and our entire cohort of LPs. Weโre grateful for the opportunity to put your capital to work powering the next generation of water innovation. ๐ฅ๐๏ธ๐ง

Big thanks to @journotas of @CNBC for featuring Burnt Island Ventures in her new @LaunchSquad piece,ย โWater tech needs better thirst traps.โ
Itโs a sharp read on why water innovation deserves better marketing, and how great founders turn complexity into clarity. As our very own @InveryneFarmer put it, โwater is landing on the front pages more and moreโ โ but the next step is helping customers see how innovation fits their world.
Water tech doesnโt need sympathy; it needs strategy. Great read. ๐

Big congratulations to @LAIIERIO for being named to @cleantechgroup's "Cleantech 50 to Watch"! ๐ง
@LAIIERIO adhesive, printed sensors detect liquid leaks at the earliest possible stage, helping owners and operators protect buildings, equipment, and critical infrastructure from costly damage and downtime. Their scalable, full-stack platform combines precision sensing with connectivity and cloud analytics.
Smart, scalable, and seriously cool ๐
"The kitchen is full of hidden inefficiencies. Expose reality to solve them."
You may know by now that I get pretty excited when people walk through the figurative BIV door with an understanding of reality that is virtually impossible to diagnose from the outside. From the moment I met Dylan Wolff and he explained what he was up to, I couldn't believe what he was solving.
In episode 46, we go into some depth as to what he's building at CNSRV, but it's the vehicle for the deletion of a stunning quantity of waterway as well as the provision of a multi-layered, deeply practical and financial set of value propositions, all of which drop straight to their customersโ bottom line. Once you see it, you really can't unsee it. Dylan also happens to be, as we say back home, a really lovely bloke to spend time with.
Please enjoy my conversation with Dylan Wolff.

From droughts to digital infrastructure, water touches every part of the climate economy, and yet it remains one of the least understood sectors.
In his recent @heatmap_news feature, our very own @InveryneFarmer discusses why concerns about data center water use may be overstated, and why the real opportunities lie in addressing deeper, systemic challenges: aging infrastructure, inefficient management, and the need for scalable innovation.
Thank you to Katie Brigham and @heatmap_news for this thoughtful piece. ๐

Excited to share new climate adaptation and resilience research from @RBC Capital Markets, featuring insights fromย both @InveryneFarmer and @floodbase Co-Founder and CEO @BessieSchwarz. ๐๐ง
The report highlights how real time, satellite powered flood intelligence is reshaping climate risk management for insurers, governments and communities. Floodbaseโs work shows how better data and faster decision making can materially improve resilience as climate volatility increases.
Thank you to the RBC Capital Markets team for including both Floodbase and Burnt Island Ventures in this important conversation. Weโre glad to contribute to the growing body of thought leadership around the future of climate intelligence. ๐

Being named one of 36 finalists out of 2,570 submissions across 119 countries is no small feat, and we are excited to see Power & Water recognized on stage for the Global Prize for Innovation in Water (@GPIW_Prize) 2025. ๐
The momentum behindย SONECOยฎ, their chemical free and low carbon treatment technology, continues to build. It is now being applied in everything from desalination and municipal systems to industrial sites, construction activities and aquaculture. Across these settings, customers are seeing improvements in water quality, fewer chemicals, lower operating costs and more reliable performance.
Next week their team will be in Jeddah for @Idwscom 2025, where the winners will be announced. If you will be attending, they would welcome the chance to connect. ๐ง
Huge congratulations to @previsico on their remarkable showing at theย @DeloitteUK Technology Fast 50 Awards:ย #4 nationallyย andย #1 in the Midlands. ๐ง๏ธ๐
This leap from last yearโs #14 spot reflects the teamโs relentless commitment to improving flood forecasting and resilience. Previsico continues to push the boundaries of whatโs possible in real-time hazard intelligence, helping communities and organizations prepare for increasingly volatile climate risks. ๐
Raising a fund in this market is a grind. In his new blog post, Tom Ferguson breaks down the principles that carried Fund II over the line: close when you can, widen your surface area, look after the LPs who show up early, communicate constantly, and know your edge cold.
A candid look under the hood, and essential reading for emerging managers. โ

Excited to share a great feature in @Forbes spotlighting the momentum building behind Flocean, a pioneer in commercial subsea desalination. ๐
The article highlights two major milestones, a new partnership with Alver Municipality to explore subsea desalination for its local water supply, and an expanded Series A round that brings total A1 capital toย over $22M.
As global freshwater demand climbs toย 1.7ร supply, subsea systems like Floceanโs offer a lower-energy, lower-impact path to increasing water availability for coastal communities and industry. Big congrats to the team, and thank you to Forbes for the thoughtful coverage. ๐

Excited to share that @InveryneFarmer will be speaking at the @Idwscom 2025ย in Jeddah this December. ๐ง
IDWS brings together global leaders reshaping how the world manages water, from AI-enabled operations and smart infrastructure to digital twins, IoT solutions, and next-generation sustainability practices. Tom will be joining experts from across the MEA region to share insights from Burnt Island Ventures on where water innovation is heading.
If youโll be at the conference, weโd love to connect. See you in Jeddah. ๐
Wastewater is becoming an unexpected proving ground for climate innovation, and this interview with CREW Carbon highlights one of the emerging approaches.
By dosing naturally occurring calcium carbonate into biological treatment, the material dissolves fully, reacts with CO2 from microbial activity, and converts it into stable bicarbonate. The result is a blend of treatment optimization and measurable carbon removal inside engineered, verifiable environments.
Great conversation with founder and CEO Joachim Katchinoff on the (donโt) Waste Water podcast
Full interview in the comments below. ๐ง
Tune into the latest episode of TIM TALKS: Private Equity & Venture, where our own @InveryneFarmer Ferguson joins host Timothy Cunningham of Touchstone Group, LLC to unpack whatโs actually happening inside early-stage water innovation today. โ๏ธ
The discussion dives into the structural challenges that define this sector: long sales cycles, regulatory timing risk, capital intensity, and why hype often outpaces fundamentals. Tom also offers a candid look at founder decision-making, fundraising pitfalls, dilution dynamics, and the moments when chasing the next round can undermine long-term value.
A must-listen for anyone interested in water-tech, climate infrastructure, or the realities of building in long-cycle markets. ๐
