In 1526, the king of Kongo wrote to the king of Portugal and begged him to stop the slave trade. The letters still exist. You can read them. King Afonso I — Nzinga Mbemba. He was not a victim of ignorance about Europe. He was literate in Portuguese, Catholic, and had welcomed Portuguese traders as partners. Then he watched what the trade actually did. He writes that merchants are seizing people every day — nobles, family members, free subjects — and that his country is being emptied. He asks for teachers and doctors instead of ships. He asks, plainly, for it to stop. Portugal's king replied with a letter pointing out how profitable Kongo's trade was and how little else it had to offer. The trade continued for another three hundred years and helped destroy the kingdom. An African head of state put his objection in writing in 1526, in the language of the people doing it, and was told the arithmetic did not work in his favour. "They didn't know" has never been available as an excuse. The correspondence is in the archives.

🇷🇺🇪🇺Russian President Vladimir Putin once again sent a message to European citizens: “We don’t want to fight you, we want to cooperate with you” “I want to say once again: Russia has no aggressive intentions toward Europe or European countries. We simply have no basis for this whatsoever. We are ready for cooperation and for restoring relations with our European neighbors.”

7 frat boys at Cornell drugged a young student and raped her. They sent text messages to other men that she was “free” and they could come join in. Their punishment? Writing essays to Cornell. Arrest & prosecute every one of them and fire whoever doled out the “discipline”

How do western “leaders” explain away the constant destruction of hospitals and educational facilities and religious institutions? How do people who follow mainstream media manage to shield themselves from this truth, that “Israel” undeniably commits war crimes all day every day?
🔴Statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health: The Ministry of Public Health condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the barbaric crime committed by the Israeli enemy in burning down the Mays al-Jabal Governmental Hospital—an act constituting a flagrant and brutal assault. This public healthcare facility—which the Ministry had diligently refurbished and equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology to serve as a lifeline and a safe haven for displaced residents and those steadfastly remaining in border areas—is now facing systematic destruction that reveals a profound moral bankruptcy and deep-seated criminality. The occupation forces did not merely occupy the facility previously and convert it into a military barracks; they have now gone so far as to burn it down completely, thereby depriving the people of the South of their most basic human rights to medical treatment and healthcare. The Ministry asserts that targeting medical institutions and healthcare personnel constitutes a full-fledged war crime and a blatant violation of international conventions. It calls upon the international community, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to immediately break their suspicious silence and hold the occupation accountable for its repeated crimes against Lebanon’s health sector. Furthermore, the Ministry emphasizes that these criminal acts will not break the people's resolve; the Ministry remains committed to fulfilling its national and humanitarian duty and supporting the people of the South with all available resources, regardless of the sacrifices required.

Remembering Sabra & Shatila is vital. The UN called it genocide. This unbroken pattern of violence demands action. Justice for Palestine.

A sixteen-year-old boy was arrested in Bristol for holding a sign saying “PLASTICINE Action”. This is exactly what people said would happen when Palestine Action were proscribed. Yet another wrongful arrest that will make people frightened to say anything about Palestine.
Yesterday in the UK, Bristol police arrested this child under the Terrorism Act for holding a sign with the words “plasticine action group” on it. For anyone who’s unsure, it’s not yet illegal to mention plasticine action, Morph, Wallace & Gromit or Chicken Run. 📸: @JustBarold

Today I visited Dan Norie at HMP Elmley on the Isle of Sheppey He is a gentle, compassionate and powerful soul He has been held on remand in British prisons for 14 months, accused of getting into RAF Brize Norton and throwing paint on some planes in June 2025 to raise awareness of the UK military’s direct participation in the Gaza genocide He—and all Palestine Action prisoners—must be freed immediately It’s the darkest stain on our country that we have people rotting in prison for allegedly taking non-violent direct action to stop a UK-backed genocide, while the politicians who ordered our military and intelligence agencies to participate in it roam free Free Dan Norie. Free the Brize Norton 5. Free all Palestine Action prisoners

“I know that we are in the right place doing the right thing,” she said, while holding a sign reading “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action”.
Police raided the home of an 84-year-old priest following her arrest last week at a Just Stop Oil protest. Sue Parfitt had been arrested alongside other protesters at Parliament Square in London on Wednesday 2 September during Andy Burnham’s first PMQs, with activists calling on the prime minister not to approve new oil and gas licenses. Parfitt’s home in Henbury, Bristol, was searched sometime between 7.30pm that evening and noon the following day while she was being held in police custody. She only discovered her home had been the site of a swoop when she returned on Thursday afternoon following her release. She recalled being told what had happened by her landlord. “I was quite surprised,” she said, “and then I was terrified.” It hasn’t been made clear to Parfitt why the raid occurred, although she suspects the police had intended to seize her laptop. Parfitt doesn’t have a smartphone or social media. “They [the police] think you’ve got all these contacts on your devices,” she said. “Well, I don’t because I’m not in any of these chats.” Parfitt shares her home with her landlord and another tenant, who was not home at the time of the incident. No other protesters held in custody last week are believed to have had their homes raided. Novara Media has approached the police for comment. Parfitt has been arrested more than 30 times in total, mostly for defying the proscription of Palestine Action but also for participating in climate protests with Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain, Extinction Rebellion and Christian Climate Action. At a protest opposing the ban on Palestine Action in July 2025, Parfitt told Novara Media she wasn’t afraid of being arrested. “I know that we are in the right place doing the right thing,” she said, while holding a sign reading “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action”. “As my friend Ruth always says, ‘we cannot be bystanders’.”
