Aside from voting based on D or R, having seen the name before is probably the 2nd most common reason people vote for someone, even if they won’t admit it. Most voters are extremely uninformed, and it’s why everything keeps getting worse.

If a sign saying "Israel kills", is antisemitic, than any condemnation of Israel's murder is hateful against Jewish people. That cannot be true. People must be able to protest an evil country without being labeled as bigoted because Jewish people live there.
