I’m about to catapult myself into the querying trenches this weekend! The last 8 months consisted of me spending A LOT of time perfecting UNDER THE CARPET after working with an incredible editor. I have been querying for over a year now and received my first full request a little over 2 months ago. When I received the rejection on my full from the agent this past Friday, I was completely devastated. But it’s Sunday, the start to a new week & some fresh positivity. I let myself feel the emotions for a couple of days and now I’m ready to get back on the wagon. I’ve decided to look for an editor & really go through my book and find ways to make some good changes! As I wait to hear back from the agent who requested my full, I’m finding that I’m having a hard time querying. Part of me wants to continue submitting but the other part wants to wait to hear back. That manuscript earned 150 “we regrets” and one full request that turned into a form rejection. To read that a potential publisher “thoroughly enjoyed it” after so many “I didn’t connect with the writing” and “not for me” and “this business is subjective and another agent/editor/press may feel very differently” is… I can’t express how much I needed this.
