With the passing of Dolores Huerta, Hillary and I have lost a dear friend, and we’ve all lost a stalwart champion of working Americans. Dolores wore many hats: voting rights advocate, human rights champion, die-hard Democrat, self-described “born-again feminist,” and co-founder of the United Farm Workers of America. To see her in action was to witness a living legend who never stopped pushing for progress and seeing every new obstacle as a fresh opportunity to educate, to organize, and to uplift—even as those efforts sometimes brought her grave consequences. I will never forget and always be grateful for her support for Hillary in 2008 and 2016. It was an honor to award her the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award in 1998 and a great gift to spend time with and fight alongside her. Our hearts go out to her family and the countless Americans whose lives were forever changed by her good long life.

To the world, Dolores was a civil rights icon. To my family, she was also a friend, a mentor and someone who helped change the course of our lives. Read my personal tribute to Dolores: speaker.asmdc.org/press-rele…

California mourns a giant. Dolores Huerta gave voice to the voiceless, dignity to the fields and hope to generations. One of the greatest civil rights leaders in history, she showed us that even in the face of injustice, together we can. Sí, se puede.

Assembly Democrats and I were in the Inland Empire over the weekend to get out the vote for Leila Namvar in AD 47 and Ida Obeso-Martinez and AD 36. Have you completed, signed, and returned your ballot yet?

Well said from @AGBonta. California has taken election security and integrity seriously, and we will continue to protect voters’ right to cast their ballot freely and fairly.
Let’s be clear about the facts: California has more than 23 million registered voters — the 28 cases of alleged voter fraud announced this morning represent .0001% of that total. Isolated cases of voter fraud occur in red and blue states alike. As I’ve said repeatedly, any substantiated allegation of voter fraud should be taken seriously and, when supported by the facts and law, prosecuted. We have safeguards in place to protect election integrity, and they’re working.

Progress never stops! It was an honor to speak at BAYMEC’s 42nd Annual Brunch in downtown San Jose this weekend and to stand with leaders from the Central Coast in championing our LGBTQ community and leaders.

California’s elections are the most secure in the country. Prop 39 would reject far more legitimate ballots than it would prevent fraudulent ones. If that’s not voter suppression, what is? Vote NO on Prop 39!

On the last day of Latino Heritage Month, I joined Assembly Speaker @robertrivas_ca on historic Olvera Street, in the heart of Los Angeles. We’re proud to be Latino, and proud of everything our community has built in this state. From our families, to our workers, our small businesses, and our culture, California wouldn’t be California without them. Ballots are out now. Fill yours out, talk to your family and neighbors, and make sure everyone you know votes. Find everything you need at sos.ca.gov.

Inviting Iran to “take out” L.A. and San Diego, the two largest cities in California, is an absolute new low for this mad man. No matter where you stand politically, encouraging an attack on Americans on American soil should immediately horrify you. Vote accordingly.
Trump on Iran: Let 'em take out Los Angeles and San Diego, it's a small price to pay

The choice in this race is 100% clear. If you want Donald Trump to get his tentacles deeper into California’s communities and culture, vote for Steve Hilton. If you want a steady hand and experience, you must support @xavierbecerra.
California has 2 clear choices for Governor: someone who will fight for you or someone who will take orders from Trump.

SCOTUS botched this one. This dumpster fire of an administration is doing everything possible to disenfranchise lawful voters. Just another reason why it is so important to vote NO on the MAGA-supported Prop 39 and to elect Democrats to Congress. nytimes.com/2026/09/25/us/po…

Trump lost yesterday, but your right to vote is still at-risk. NO on Prop 39. It’s MAGA-backed and takes away your voting rights.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected — for now — the Trump administration’s efforts to limit mail-in voting ahead of the Nov. 3 election through new rules issued by the U.S. Postal Service. cal.news/4xtY2dY 📸 Julia Demaree Nikhinson, AP

Happy Latino Heritage Month! This month, we celebrate the generations of Latino families who have helped build California and the culture, traditions, and communities that make our state so special. I’m proud of my roots and proud to stand with California’s Latino community. I’ll always defend and protect immigrant communities and fight to make sure every Californian is treated with dignity and respect.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken on September 11, 2001. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger and the countless acts of courage, compassion, and service that followed. 🧵

In the aftermath of the attacks, California answered the call, sending emergency personnel across the country to NYC to assist with response and recovery efforts. They joined thousands of Americans who came together in one of our nation’s darkest hours to help however they could.
