Put the ice down. Richard Paterson, Whyte & Mackay's legendary master blender, is about to teach you how to drink whisky like a sir.
Behind a bar lined with Whyte & Mackay bottles, the man with the magnificent mustache pours a dram, swirls it, and throws it out, "because you want to get rid of any odours that are perhaps on the lip of the glass." Then he pours again, swirls it around, and brings it up to "say hello." He even checks in on it: "How are you?... Quite well. Thank you very much."
Rule one: "Don't knock it back like a cowboy."
Rule two: add water, but test it with your finger first, "because many barmen unfortunately stick their jug under a hot tap by mistake." He says that's happened to his whisky six times, from America to France to Stockholm to England. The target is "35% alcohol," which he calls "the ideal strength for really bringing out the whisky in the palate." A sip, a long, thoughtful swish, "And then let it go down. Absolutely fantastic."
Skip the water? "This is what would happen." Down goes a sip, and his face crumples into pure agony.
Then comes the grand finale. Winding down at the bar after a presentation, he says, there's "nothing more wonderful than the sound of whisky being poured by the barman into a glass"... until he hears "not just one or two bits of ice, but many bits." He rattles a glass packed with ice right at the camera. "This is now Scotch on the rocks. This is taking my whisky, ruining it with all this ice."
He even has an origin story: in the olden days, the Scots went to the river beds and took cold rocks "chilled by the mountain snows" to put in their whisky. "And that's why we call it Scotch on the rocks." His advice if a barman ever hands you one: "Chuck it away. You don't need it." And with a big theatrical fling, he does.
Pure theater from a true whisky legend. So be honest: neat, a splash of water, or on the rocks? Tell me how you drink yours.

Yes, the core account is accurate and well-documented. In October 2008, 13-year-old Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow (recently from a Kenyan refugee camp) was raped by three men in Somalia. After her family reported it to Al-Shabaab in Kismayo, she was convicted of adultery under their Sharia rules and publicly stoned to death before ~1,000 people. An 8-year-old boy was shot dead when bystanders tried to stop it; sources do not name him Isak Aden.

Good morning, Royal Mail @RoyalMail
A quick question: do all your postmen have such disdain as this for our country’s flag?
I look forward to your response.

John Cleese, 86, is being targeted by activist group Deenified as he tours England with his Holy Grail stage show. The group has accused him on X of "using your platform to attack Islam" and "spreading dangerous misinformation," with one activist calling free speech "a convenient shield for anti-Muslim hostility."
Cleese rejects the Islamophobe label entirely, calling himself "Islamosceptic," and has pointed out nobody ever called him "Christophobic" after Life of Brian. Islamic outlet 5Pillars has gone further still, explicitly demanding he be de-platformed.
Rupert Lowe has already called this what it is: a pressure group trying to bully an 86-year-old man into silence over jokes and honest opinions. He's right, and he's right to tell Restore Britain to back Cleese publicly.
These people don't want dialogue. They want submission. Every time someone caves to this kind of pressure, it teaches them the tactic works, and they come back harder next time for the next target. Cleese is refusing to bow, and every single person who values the right to criticise a religion without getting hounded for it should be standing directly behind him.
Protect @JohnCleese, at all costs.

Barn find Austin Allegro 3 - full review and drive!
The Allegro we revealed last week is test driven on the mean streets of Halifax. Give it a watch to see if it’s as terrible as the bloke down the pub told you it would be 😉

It is horrifying you want to know why? You're looking at around $1M worth of guts they want so bad they prefer to kill for them.

They couldn't even wait until the corpse was cold, could they? They had to play the racism card immediately. Absolutely shameless.

JK Rowling has the most milquetoast opinions on trans people, which essentially boil down to "I don't think biological men should have access to female homeless shelters and prisons."
How you've somehow transformed that into "kill 'em all" is honestly impressive.

Meanwhile, in LibDem run Bath, our LibDem council and LibDem MP just sat on their hands for over a year and watched our Royal Victoria Park ponds and wildlife slowly die.
They hoped we wouldn’t notice.
They hoped we wouldn’t care.
Well, they were wrong, very wrong…
