Fall can be unpredictable, but especially in the South - and sometimes in the Plains and Midwest - tornadoes happen, including at night.
More #tornado shelters are being added to the map at findyourtornadoshelter.com - you might have new ones available. Over 2,500 so far mapped.
November is often seen as the "second season" for #tornado threats. That is especially true in the South. While major events don't happen every year, when they do, they are often significant tornado outbreaks. And they are often at nighttime.

The one good thing is that, once you get through class trying to derive the QG Omega equation, you will rarely have to use it again in practice. But once you understand some of it, you can do just about anything.

The desert Southwest and Arizona in particular need to prepare now for dangerous life threatening flash flooding tomorrow. I wouldn't rule out a level 4/4 risk upgrade for flooding given the PRE that occurred yesterday. The HRRR is showing as much as 10 INCHES of rain locally
For a meteorologist, ghosts and goblins are not the scariest thing, and neither are bats or monsters. It is the Quasi-Geostrophic Omega (QG Omega) equation. Yet we all successfully managed to break these down to read the atmosphere.

Watching that NASCAR crash...ouch. It hurt just watching the replays. Imagine what it's like in the car at those speeds, especially taking such enormous hits into the wall. (And remember, that used to be a concrete barrier...)
