A question for every board member and C-suite executive in an organisation:
Do you genuinely KNOW whether governance is working?
What evidence can you independently test, or are you relying on assurances that everything is under control?

#1. Have political parties truly heard the voters, or merely heard #LGE2026 results?
Come Monday, 09 Nov 26, the alliances, negotiations & political manoeuvring begin.
But where is the evidence of genuine change, accountability and delivery?
Voters deserve more than promises.
#2. Political parties are organisations too.
Their internal #governance, leadership, performance and delivery of their mandate must be measured, managed & reported.
Fail to serve the voters or fail to deliver - voters must be able to fire you.
Accountability starts at home!
The people of South Africa want live in a country where leaders practice good #governance -- at every level -- where all citizens can experience, and enjoy the values contained in the Constitution.
The Constitution is the bedrock for a prosperous nation, now align the policies.
#LGE2026 | ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula acknowledges the party’s disappointing election performance, saying, “We knew this disaster was coming.”
He vows to address voter disillusionment, fix governance failures and rebuild public trust, while stressing that the ANC is in no rush to enter coalition agreements.

Downplaying the termination of SA from AGOA isn't wise.
There're direct and indirect implications - these will still play out in the months, even years ahead.
This interview will be remembered.

Vote on evidence, not promises.
Ask yourself the same question of a political party:
What have you actually delivered on water, electrical power, roads, safety and security - is there proof?
Untested claims should not decide your vote.

As SA citizens prepare to vote, look beyond party promises.
Are political parties disciplined, reliable, orderly, consistent and effective? Most importantly, are they delivering on their commitments?
Policies matter. But evidence of service delivery matters more.

The practice of law requires courage, commitment and dedication.
It should never require someone to put their life on the line.

The assassinations of Nadine Meintjies and Chinette Gallichan (March '26) reveal the fatal cost of good #governance in SA.
Upholding the rule of law shouldn't be a death sentence, and here we are.
When the system fails, the odds are not in our favour.

Attorney Nadine Meintjies (30) and an unidentified male passenger were shot dead inside a Toyota Urban Cruiser at the Klipspruit West off-ramp in Johannesburg on Monday, 2 November 2026.
Police arrived to find the vehicle stationary with several bullet holes in the driver’s door. Meintjies was in the driver’s seat; the man was in the front passenger seat. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene by emergency services. No arrests have been made. Motive remains unknown. Reports describe it as looking like a targeted assassination.
This is the grim reality of daily life under the ANC’s failed “rainbow” experiment; another young White professional gunned down in her vehicle in broad daylight-style urban violence, while authorities open yet another “investigation” with zero results.
President Trump has called it correctly.
This is not random “crime,” it is the predictable outcome of racial policies, farm attacks, and a government that prioritizes everything except protecting its productive minority citizens.
This isn't how a "world class city" must be thinking, neither operating.
As the Gauteng province -- like many others -- continues to deteriorate, local and foreign investment won't get real traction in South Africa.
Poor #governance and bad policies is choking the SA economy.
We want clean water running out of taps, not buckets collected from a tanker.
We want tarred roads, with clear traffic markings, not patched up dust trails.
We want pavements of indigenous plants, not over grown weeds.
We want working traffic lights, not self-appointed traffic controllers who normally beg at those intersections.
We want refuse collection, not stinking garbage uncollected from our streets.
We want working street lights, not dark roads that are unsafe to walk or drive down.
We actually want the DA.

My friends and I were talking about the upcoming elections over the weekend.
And how incredibly important they are.
We did a bit of Googling and found out that South Africa has lost an estimated R2.1 trillion to corruption and mismanagement since the ANC has been in power.
That's R8 million every hour.
Every. Single. Hour.
Imagine the schools, hospitals, jobs and infrastructure we could have had.
I wrote this and published it on my Facebook. My editor believed that it deserves to be in an article too. It's a long read. And it's incredibly sobering. But also... hopeful.
I received a comment on the original post from a follower who was not going to vote because they believed their vote didn't matter. After reading this, they have decided that there is no choice but to vote.
Who knows, maybe reading this will inspire you too... or sharing it, may inspire others.

Ever wondered why so many organisations do not want to reveal their true governance activities?
When the truth surfaces, the picture isn't that pretty.
There's good news. There's growing calls to make the governance transparent - informed investors are locking in.

I see people trying to argue this morning that the ending of AGOA is not a big deal and perhaps they are right, but why make life more difficult for SA ? Why reduce our market share in the world . Why make jobs harder to come by . Cutting off our nose to spite our face .

I’ve seen a lot of commentary diminishing the importance of AGOA to our economy. The fact is that the South African economy needs every possible competitive edge we can get. For the affected industries it means more unemployment, production cuts, investment risk. For my province, the Eastern Cape, the economic impact is significant for citrus, automotive and components manufacturers.
Those doing crime must understand the high risks. Get caught and know there will be consequences.
Expecting a cushy end when turning state witness, is truly unrealistic.
No time for going soft on criminals; SA has been torn apart by their greed!

‘I’m not Rockefeller’: Angelo Agrizzi says he has no money to repay R1.66bn dailymaverick.co.za/article/…
The news of SA's exclusion from AGOA could bring closer alignment between government and business leaders - to devise a new strategy and turn the fortunes of the country.
Aligning trust, partnerships, talent, purpose, values and grit is what it takes!
dailymaverick.co.za/article/…
Down playing the effect of business and politics is not wise - the two are inseparable.
It's true however that AGOA eligibility is a political decision reacting to policy choices made at Luthuli House.
The economic fallout hits SA exporters either way!

The R2.4bn tariff bill South Africa could have prevented was trumped by local policies that many people in the country do not support.
Policies -- and poor governance -- have consequences!
The indirect costs will far exceed the R2.4bn tariff!

Repeated talks yielded no shift on issues like BBBEE, EWC, crime and corruption.
The 5 asks from U.S. are now off the table.
SA's on the back foot with real pressure and no more wiggle room - market conditions will get far worse.
Policies have consequences.
#AGOA #governance
It is regrettable that South African policies led to the termination of AGOA for South Africa. This was a predictable and preventable outcome resulting from the rejection by South Africa's government of real concerns raised by the U.S. Government. I remain hopeful that we can find a path forward to address our larger bilateral concerns, but the South African government must understand the gravity of the situation. We know that if America succeeds, so too will South Africa. This is the partnership I will continue to pursue as expeditiously as possible.
ustr.gov/about/policy-office…
Warning signs on SA's #AGOA eligibility date back to circa 2015.
SA underwent an out-of-cycle review over trade barriers - past 'fixes' bought us time, but barriers such as corruption & foreign policy issues persisted through annual reviews.
Years of clear signals were there!
Washington has pulled the plug. From 1 January 2027, South Africa is out of AGOA.
On 2 Nov, President Trump notified Congress and Pretoria of his intent to terminate SA's AGOA benefits. USTR's stated reasons for SA: "barriers to U.S. trade and investment, corruption, and threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy interests."
Read that list again. Trade barriers. Corruption. Foreign policy. Every item on it is a choice made in Pretoria, not in Washington.
This didn't come out of nowhere. Talks have been running since 2025, and this government kept picking the same fights instead of fixing the problems.
The cost lands on ordinary South Africans. AgriSA warns of pressure on packhouses, transport operators and farmworkers, and says the US took 28.85% of SA litchi exports last season.
Ministers will keep their jobs. Packhouse workers might not.
Why it matters: we are paying for foreign policy grandstanding with export jobs, and there are only weeks left to fix it before 1 January.
