Satoshi Nakamoto released the white paper 18 years ago today on Halloween.
You’ve probably read the 9 page version. But it was actually only 8.
His original PDF is dated October 3, the day the TARP program bailed out the banks.
Satoshi released an update 5 months later in March 2009.
In addition to correcting some grammar and spelling mistakes, he added a paragraph on transaction fees.
This pushed it into 9 pages.
By the way the original working title was “Electronic Cash Without a Trusted Third Party."
Many people forget this is a fundamental attribute of Bitcoin’s utility… not having to trust.
In fact, the word “trust” appears in the document 14 times.
Meanwhile the terms, 21 million, blockchain, mining, and cryptocurrency never appear.
Happy Birthday 🎁

"You don't end up with more bitcoin by not spending bitcoin. You end up with more by buying more and earning more"
I think this is an unpopular opinion for most of you.
Spend & replace but we can't keep saying it's money but don't USE it like money.
Holding bitcoin through the 80% drops is how it survived.
Never spending it is what's holding it back.
"You don't end up with more bitcoin by not spending bitcoin. You end up with more by buying more and earning more."
@thekylehuber on his barber's first sats, and why there's zero downside to spending.
Want to start? Send sats to an artist. @ainsleymusic07. @Radicalart777. A like says nice job. A zap is real value.

Legendary investor Stanley Druckenmiller says America's real debt is closer to $200 trillion once you count the Social Security and Medicare promised to future retirees.
The first bill comes due in 2032, when Social Security's retirement fund is projected to run dry and benefits could be cut by about 22%.
Here's how we got here and what it means for you:

₿itcoin is roughly 21% above its power law floor, and the floor is rising about 2.5% a month.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Or you could secure permanent, unsecured funding with zero refinancing risk and make interest-only payments with no amortization of principal. But that wouldn't be easy.

$BTC: Bitcoin could reach $1 million in ~7.5 years.
That's what slowing growth looks like and it's more bullish than it sounds.
$1K → $10K: ~4 years
$10K → $100K: ~7 years
$100K → $1M: ~9.3 years (April 2034)
Here's the paradox most investors miss:
Each 10× takes longer, yet Bitcoin can move through each $10,000 price range faster.
At $10K, a $10K gain is 100%.
At $100K, it's 10%.
At $1M, it's just 1%.
Bitcoin's power law implies slowing percentage growth but potentially accelerating dollar gains.
The biggest dollar moves still be ahead, even as percentage returns decline.
That's the mathematics of compounding.
As adoption sustains the trend.

My current views on investing:
- Government will never stop printing money, so bitcoin / gold / land will all do well for 2 decades
- AI is drastically underestimated and the best AI companies are significantly undervalued
- Shorting individual stocks is very difficult, so I wouldn’t try it but the biggest indicator of whether a company survives or not is the internal speed of iteration now
- Bonds shouldn’t be in the conversation for anyone under age 50. Picking up pennies in front of steamroller
- Venture investing & public markets will blend in next 5 years, so private valuations will rise due to lots more capital chasing a few great companies
- Young people should look at assets & markets that Wall Street hasn’t adopted yet. This used to be bitcoin/crypto, but now private markets, prediction markets, compute markets, and data brokering
- every investor should be sovereign. You can use a financial advisor, but you have to know your numbers, your strategy, and your risk exposure. AI makes this too easy (Silvia .com)
- Everyone arguing over interest rates, oil, and other historical macro factors are not wrong, but these just have less impact today (thx @jvisserlabs)
- agents are coming for finance and things are going to rapidly change. Don’t fight it, embrace it and use to your advantage.
- Tesla / SpaceX merger will happen and create largest company in human history. My simple rule is to never bet against Elon.
There are many more, but what are yours?

THE HIGHEST-ROI $BTC ADOPTION IDEA MAY COST JUST 25,000 SATS PER CHILD.
Imagine a Bitcoin Birthright Fund that gives American children 25,000 sats, held until age 18.
The child gains an asset.
Parents gain a reason to learn.
Grandparents gain a way to contribute.
The gift reaches one child. The opportunity reaches an entire family.
That is the key insight:
Ownership comes first. Conviction can follow.
Instead of spending heavily to persuade someone to buy Bitcoin, give them a small stake and let curiosity, time and family participation do the rest.
For large Bitcoin holders, broader adoption could strengthen long-term demand for the asset they already own.
For Coinbase, Fidelity and BlackRock, the potential is lasting family relationships, growing invested assets and recurring revenue relationships that can begin with parents and grandparents today.
A pilot reaching 1 million children would require 250 BTC in grants, plus operating costs. Measure participation, additional family savings, retention and lifetime value.
If the economics work, scale it.
The national vision:
72 million children. 18,000 BTC in grants.
One small gift.
Three generations.
Potentially decades of adoption.
I’d welcome a conversation with partners interested in testing the idea.
