Hamas is the enemy of Palestinian liberation
Its feeble violent ‘resistance’ achieves nothing for Palestinians. It just gives Netanyahu another ‘excuse’ for further murderous repression
Hamas issued a statement: “We call upon the masses of our steadfast people in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, and in every corner of the homeland, to escalate resistance operations with all their tools.”
This is exactly what the Israeli government wants. They do not even hide it: they want to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from the West Bank, using any excuse Hamas is working so hard to provide.
Thank God, there are still sane people in the West Bank who understand Hamas’s plans. After what they saw in Gaza, many now throw every Hamas statement in the trash.
Hamas poses a danger to Palestinian presence and national interests, just as the Israeli government and settler movement do.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is trying very hard to bring Hamas into the PLO. That would be a terrible decision. Hamas belongs outside Palestinian political life, not in the Palestinian national leadership.
