Heat damages crops. Signs of heat stress in crops include: leaf scorch, wilting, stunted growth, & increased pests/disease. Precautions include:
✅ Water consistently, mulch, use shade nets & heat-tolerant varieties.
✅ Healthy soil = resilient crops

This week CIMH staff participated in hands-on Earth Observation training led by Web Advanced Space Developer Interface, building on earlier #CopernicusLAC training.
CIMH staff developed applications for:
🌿Sargassum detection
⛰️Landslide detection
🌎Ground deformation monitoring
The goal, to strengthen in-region expertise to develop, maintain & adapt Earth Observation tools for Caribbean needs.
This initiative was supported by @EUinBabados through the EU-Caribbean Cooperation Facility implemented by @FIAP & @intraacpclimsa implemented by CIMH.
Participants explored how seasonal & sub-seasonal climate information can support decisions in the livestock & poultry sectors. The discussions also examined approaches for tailoring climate forecasts to livestock & poultry, & strategies for responding to forecasted heat stress.
This activity was supported by the @intraacpclimsa Caribbean programme in partnership with @EUinBarbados.
