The reasoning feels a tad gaslighty tbh
You can't blame the failure of this game on "low player retention" when you only released it in 2 countries (Brazil and Philippines), effectively not giving a majority of the fan base a chance to even try the game
This feels like a repeated pattern of Sonic mobile games being released in a small amount of countries, with global releases happening way later (Sonic Rumble) or not at all (Sonic Blitz). I don't understand why SEGA and Rovio continue to go with this method when it's proven to not work
It's a shame we'll never know what Sonic Blitz was like, and hopefully next time, they'll release the game to everyone before nuking the game entirely due to "low player retention"
BREAKING: Rovio Copenhagen, the studio behind Sonic Blitz, has been closed along with the game's cancellation. #SonicNews
20 employees had been working on the game, and there will be attempts to reassign employees to elsewhere in the company after a redundancy process.
Sega West COO and Rovio CEO Alex Pelletier-Normand told @mobilegamerbiz that Sonic Blitz was canceled because player retention didn't meet expectations. They thought that the combination of fast paced gameplay and a collectible card meta would "please Sonic fans"
He had this to say about Sonic's future on mobile, "I still am convinced that there is a way to reach more players on mobile with Sonic, it turns out that it’s much more complicated than I think both Sega and Rovio thought."

You say that, but the heart and soul are more complex than that🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Calling someone “retarded” and reducing their entire existence to an insult does not protect the truth.
Harsh words may feel strong and satisfying to you in the moment,
but they close every door, replace dialogue with contempt, and leave only pain and distance.
And that pain will eventually come back to you as well.
There is no need to insult people whose innate sex and soul do not align.
Trans women and other LGBT people are not asking for your acceptance or understanding,
so your argument does not need cruelty.
They only ask you to leave them alone and watch from a distance.
You are capable of treating people with more kindness.
I believe that would also make your own life richer.

I was on this team for a minute and helped design Amy's father and they were willing to help me understand linework. I got kicked due to "reactionary" comments on twitter (they werent even political)
My freinds did warn me about the head teams political views+
Archie Sonic Forever was a promising fan continuation of Archie Sonic before being cancelled after only three issues. So what happened?

It’s become clear that our country needs a leader. One that’s obsessed with robotics and theme parks.
