Took me 12 years to go through a baseball season & stay healthy. Maintained a solid diet & worked out/ran 4 days a week. Having a date on the calendar helps.. Completed a 1/2 marathon this morning! & My wifey did a 10K ❤️

Most athletes believe playing time is determined by talent.
Performance is influenced by more than talent.
Behavior allows talent to flourish.
Coaches care about potential, not just current ability.
Coaches prefer players they TRUST.
Trust is earned through consistency, coach ability, body language, response to adversity, and ownership of team standards.
The athletes who understand this spend less time wondering why and more time improving what they can control.
Playing time is rarely determined by one variable.

Coaches know who they can rely on a lot quicker than you think.
Trust earns opportunities.
These behaviors aren't a switch you turn on when you arrive at college.
They're habits that take time to build.
Which of these areas do you think incoming freshmen struggle with the most?
++ Human and Teammate .. not to mention one heck of an athlete! 4 year schools you want this guy representing your logo!
Uncommitted Soph looking for 4 year opportunities

I should have done this years ago.
Have your team eat meals together, with no cell phones allowed. The conversations are so pure and genuine. #GetSticky

I have also found the stereotype of coaches not caring about their teaching job to be almost 100% false.
Good coaches make good teachers. The skill sets almost completely overlap.

Play from Acceptance
“He chose us in him before the foundation of the world.” — Ephesians 1:4
Your identity isn’t defined by a mistake, a stat or a score.
In Christ, we play from acceptance, not for acceptance.

There is some odd truth behind this. I hate to be the “kids these days” guy - but in most cases the act they put on is more important than the score. Maybe I’m just viewing through a different lens now.
Any ideas why? Social media? Less multi sport athletes? Curios to hear.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when baseball are laying around on the ground at practice.
Bought 12 5 gallon trash cans to make sure tha doesn’t happen anymore 🫡

Loyal assistant coaches matter more than most people realize.
They support the vision.
They protect the culture.
They tell you the truth.
Great programs aren’t built by one coach.
They’re built by a loyal staff that pulls in the same direction.

Players: Teams are being posted right now for Varsity, JV, and Freshman. If you don't like where you were placed don't be the guy that pushes blame on everyone else. Be the guy that is pissed off about it and go prove everyone wrong.
Be where your feet are. Don't dwell on it and then realize you're halfway through the season and you haven't gotten over it.
Dominate the level you are at. Control what you can control. Make it undeniable that you belong.
Split squad scrimmages today - so cool we pulled this off before we even have tryouts.
