Our beloved animals are an essential part of our city’s fabric -- from the pets that become our family, to the cats that protect our bodegas, to the birds that soar through our skies. And, yes, even the pigeons.
Today, the first-ever Council Animal Welfare caucus hosted a celebration in City Hall Chambers to honor these animals and the people who care for them.
We honored the @wildbirdfund, NYC’s only wildlife rehab center, and recognized Long Island City Feral Feeders for caring for community cats across Western Queens.
The Council will continue to fight for the wellness of all New Yorkers, including our animals!
My heart goes out to everyone impacted by the devastating fire on West 49th Street. I’m deeply grateful to the FDNY firefighters and first responders who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community.
