Winds are bringing down trees, loosening facades and scaffolding, and knocking down power lines across the city. If you're outside, use caution in parks and anywhere with trees, keep clear of scaffolding, cranes, and construction sites, and stay far away from anything it touches including cars, fences, and puddles. Never try to move a tree or branch that's tangled in wires. Watch for loose signs, awnings, and debris blowing off buildings. Call 911 if there’s a life safety issue for trees and power lines.
Hazards will remain after the storm ends, so continue to exercise caution when getting around.
This weekend’s nor’easter is expected to bring strong winds & heavy rain. If you live in a basement or a home that floods frequently, know your exits and be ready to move to a higher floor when heavy rain begins.

Too much screen time has become the norm in too many of our classrooms, and it's taking a toll on our students.
Today, I rallied with @CMShekarK and @EricDinowitzNYC to call for commonsense guardrails on the use of digital devices in our schools, from limiting YouTube and gamified learning to reconsidering 1:1 devices for grades K-5.
As a parent, I know technology can be an important tool but we need to ensure it's actually enhancing our children's learning, rather than distracting from it.
