Terrible timing when government and family physicians had worked out some positive solutions. Got to love complex computer systems when things go wrong…

How many lives is excess administration costing us? → bcupcc.ca/admin/ Excess ministry and health authority admin spending in BC (vs. AB) costs $851m per year, which could provide $250k per year more for each full-service family doc. #bchealth #bcpoli

The doctors I know that worked at the UPCCs all quit. It’s not a team, admin just books, does not help with care, flow, nurses not used efficiently. Ridiculously inefficient and low volume.

As if BC doctors haven’t been dealing with enough lately, the province messed up their August paycheques 🩺💰 MoH blames a “system programming error” for shorting them up to half (!!!) what they were owed 🤦‍♀️ @CTVVancouver #bcpoli bc.ctvnews.ca/some-b-c-docto…

Thank you @PennyDaflos for helping us shine a light on one of many things that is killing the Family Physician model in BC. This is not a one time error, as MSP routinely withholds some of our pay, but it is egregious in how much was held back this time. #bcpoli @CMan_CCFP

Not acceptable! For an office visit on August 4th, I was paid for this on August 31st, 27 days later. Many of my office visit invoices sent to MSP have been "HELD" as well. 20% of my invoices have not been paid. Just like fee for service, time to modernize how doctors get paid.

Thank you for your leadership & the solutions brought forward. It's a small first step to addressing the significant challenges that family doctors face. A lot still needs to change to ensure we attract and retain the best family doctors to deliver care to British Columbians.

I don't get why they can't call the patient directly? Instead a fax is sent to my office, which gets scanned & tagged to my inbox. Now I have to instruct my office to call the patient, to confirm their appointment. Can anyone else spot why family docs are burning out?

Fraser Health has $4BILLION health budget, yet cannot hire staff to contact patients themselves. Instead, they download that "cost of business" to family doctors offices. Not only that, it's not efficient health care. It's not what's best for patients. Time to demand better.

STOP THE MADNESS. Fraser health keeps updating forms for ordering outpatient services at hospitals. In the last 2 weeks, my patients have had significant delays in getting timely treatment because apparently I was using an outdated form. When do we let forms dictate care?

Leadership isn't passing the buck. It's about working with what you have to find solutions. First, let's stop wasting $200M a year funding episodic care at UPCCs & put it to cradle-to-grave care provided by family doctors. @jjhorgan @adriandix @Dave_Eby vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/0…

It is becoming more clear than ever: Soon British Columbian's will be lining up hours at ERs & UPCCs for health care. We need @BCNDPCaucus to act now to stop the @BCFamilyDoctors exodus. @Docs4BC has commonsense solutions. @GeorgeHeyman @BobDEithMRM @BrendaBaileyBC #bcpoli

When a patient died in NB Hosp the Premier of NB took swift action. Where is the swift action from the BC Govt? How many lives must be lost, we NEED ACTION NOW! @bcpoli @DoctorsOfBC @shirleybond @SoniaFurstenau @KevinFalcon vancouversun.com/health/nort… via @VancouverSun

Our govt continues to sit idly by while another amazing Family Doctor exits our Province. The MoH is not providing the support, respect, or compensation that every Family Doctor Deserves, so they can support every resident the way we NEED. @bcpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…

Another story about family doc leaving. 2100 patients doctor-less. @Dave_Eby be our saviour & fix the healthcare crisis. Everyday we wait, more people suffer. We have the resources! 3rd highest family docs per capita! Let's put them to use. everyonedeservesafamilydoc.o… #bcpoli

"...like all British Columbians, are desperate for immediate and effective solutions to the crisis in health care." Solutions are not found in numbers & shiny new things. Sometimes you need to talk to the people on the front lines to solve the problem. cfjctoday.com/2022/07/21/sou…

1. Pay our overhead (teachers don’t buy their classrooms) 2. Pay us by time, not per appointment. Done. Simple.#everyonedeservesafamilydoctor @Docs4BC @BCCFP @DrJLush @DrErinCCFP @DrDMPetersMD @DrKathleenRoss1 @DoctorsOfBC @dr_rdosanjh @CMan_CCFP

The health authorities are not listening to local community needs. They just perpetuate a bloated expensive bureaucracy. Why does the inc of admin outpace the number of frontline care providers? Who does the work? We only need 1-2 HA to run BC wide acute care, not 6-7
