🏆 “You can only improve what you are measuring.” At #ESCP26, Neil Smart Research Award recipient Bruno Augusto Alves Martins discusses his award-winning research: Outcomes of urgent gastrointestinal-related procedures in Latin America (LATAM-URG): A prospective multicentre study. 🇨🇿 The collaboration evaluated more than 1,000 patients across multiple countries, establishing baseline data that can support future initiatives to improve the quality of surgical care across Latin America. Bruno also reflects on the work required to bring collaborators together across the region — and shares the recognition with the colleagues and surgeons who made the study possible. It's Malnutrition Awareness Week, and we're highlighting a risk that's common but often overlooked for people living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis: malnutrition. You don't have to be underweight to experience it — people with IBD can have nutritional deficiencies at any body size. In our new blog, learn why IBD increases the risk of malnutrition, what signs to watch for, and how patients, dietitians, and care teams can work together to catch and manage it early. bit.ly/4dviDY4
