I’m excited to introduce a project I’ve been working on with @ryderkessler: Abundance New York. We are a political community building a New York with more: more than enough homes, public transit, green space, clean energy. More than enough for everyone. abundanceny.substack.com/p/a…

Whoa so timely that @CV0 and I wrote an op-ed in today’s @NYDailyNews about Haley Stevens endorsing a MAGA Republican! Okay we actually wrote about why NYC should vote to approve all five amendments to the City Charter. Less clickbaity, but still important. Read and share! 👇

The median wait to get an outdoor dining permit in NYC is 19 months is insanity. Please vote for yes on all 5 ballot measures.
My office has published an investigation into how long it takes NYC to approve outdoor dining applications. We found that the median wait for approval is 19 months. At the peak of the pandemic, nearly 13,000 restaurants in NYC offered outdoor dining. Today, fewer than 2,500 do. Outdoor dining is an economic lifeline for many restaurants, is popular with diners, and brings vitality to our neighborhoods. We need to get these applications approved faster. DOT has made progress in recent months, but a significant backlog remains, and the approval process still needs critical improvements. Our investigation offers recommendations to cut delays at DOT and help more restaurants offer outdoor dining across the city.

Excited to share my latest in @Searchlight_NY about why @abundance_ny is endorsing Gov Hochul. Hochul has repeatedly done the hard parts of abundance, standing up to entrenched interests to make it easier for NY to build. Her next big challenge: making it easier for NY to hire.

There is no perfect or acceptable rape victim because there will literally be court documents showing a man was indicted for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter from age 9-12, and people will still get up on a public stage and call her a liar for speaking about it.

Writing in @Searchlight_NY, ANY co-founder @CV0 breaks down @GovKathyHochul’s strong record—and why we’re backing her in November. Plus, the agenda item we’d most like to see in her second term: permanent civil service reform. Link ⬇️

A Scaramucci was a measure of time. A Zacharia is more ethereal; a measure of being, a disconnect between one’s story and one's purpose, the distance between what you’ve lived and what you're doing at present. Beautiful really.

Plot twist, the store owner/magician with no media training is also the author of Dragons Love Tacos!? This revelation might divide my household
Hi @kellyclarkson I talked to Art Of Play co-owner Adam Rubin who wants to send you this message in part “We hold no ill will against Kelly Clarkson, we invite her to come back and enjoy the store. But, we find her gross abuse of power completely reprehensible, and she should face social consequences.” @1010WINS let us know if we can interview you to follow-up.

I’m not the first one to say it, but it is notable that the people who constantly talk about the Third Worldification of America are the doing brazen corruption and nepotism, gaudy golden decorations and public executions
The U.S. military plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the ex-Army major who was convicted of the 2009 killing of 13 people at Fort Hood, when he faces a firing squad on Dec. 3, a Pentagon official said. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said earlier Thursday the Pentagon planned to make the execution public. Hasan's case could mark the military's first execution of an American service member since 1961.

1/ Every law the NYC Council passes is public. Reading them means digging through Legistar's PDFs and Word files. So I built trackers that read every local law since 2014 for you, and they now include a third: the powers the Council gives city agencies. nycuriosity.com/p/i-built-to…

Terrific to see the mayor prioritize civil service reform. No one can say it's just about the videos. If he and his partners show real flexibility, they can move toward the public excellence New York deserves. More in the links.
For the first time, we’re partnering with labor unions to speed up and modernize hiring for city jobs. It should be easy, fast, and fair to find a good-paying job serving the city we call home — and after 100 years, we’re due for an update.

Perfect timing to revisit last week's @abundance_ny Substack piece by @CV0 about civil service, digging into the real harms to New Yorkers caused by understaffing. She shares lessons from what we've been able to do right in emergencies. Now we need better rules for every day 👇
Exclusive: the Mamdani administration will take a swing at reforming NYC's civil service system — the first serious effort by any recent mayor to revamp the antiquated, 142-year-old system that critics say deters talent and worsens staffing shortages: nysfocus.com/2026/10/05/mamd…

I fully support BIDs (I'm an alum of @DowntownBklyn) and I do agree that the Northside is probably overdue for one. But the solution for every dirty street can't be a BID, at some point baseline city services have to catch up to reality. BIDs are for *supplemental* services.
We need a business improvement district on the Northside of Williamsburg. A BID will help keep our streets clean, organize great community events, promote local businesses & more. VOTE HERE: bit.ly/cleannorthside and attend one of our upcoming community meetings!
