Canada’s Nuclear Workers continue to demonstrate their expertise with the Return To Service of Bruce Unit 3 following a very successful refurbishment. Ontario’s wise investment in nuclear energy is good for all of us. Congratulations to everyone involved. news.ontario.ca/en/release/1…
There are many great reasons to support Nuclear Energy and our Made-In-Canada CANDU Reactor.
Not all reactors deliver the same value. Some build entire domestic industries.
Canada already has nuclear technology that does more than generate electricity.
CANDU® reactors support Canadian jobs, Canadian uranium, fuel security, and a world-leading medical isotope industry – with a design already licensed here at home.

A reliable, affordable, clean-energy future depends on nuclear. Ontario’s stability, electrification goals, and economic growth all start with a strong nuclear backbone. A future without it? That’s a cost we simply can’t afford.

Behind every planned outage are hundreds of skilled people doing work that can only happen once a unit is offline.
Heavy lifts. Inspections. Testing. Upgrades. All carefully planned. All done with precision.
It’s not just power generation. It’s long-term reliability.

The ICRP & the NPO Fukushima Dialogue co-hosted a webinar today to share their thoughts 15 years after the disaster.
Watching the news 15 years ago I couldn't imagine what the people around Fukushima were experiencing. Today we heard some of their stories.
Thank you for that.
This is a great milestone for Canada's nuclear industry and an accomplishment Canada's highly skilled Nuclear Workforce should be proud of.
Congratulations to everyone that helped make this possible.
The prerequisites for the final regulatory hold point for Darlington Unit 4 have been met.
@opg may now operate the reactor above 35% full power. All Darlington refurbishments have now been completed.

Nuclear Energy - Clean & Reliable
I was wrong, we had an even 🥶colder day here Ontario, 🇨🇦Canada.... how did ⚡️generation technologies perform?
Context, in Toronto the average hourly temperature for February 8 was -16C, with a low of -20C and a high of -12C.
This graph shows capacity factor (output/available capacity ("capability")) by hour (all data from IESO).
It shows overall cap. factor of 64%, relatively very high for Ontario. Nuclear was at 100%, while gas was at an average of 72% (very high for Ontario). Solar averaged 22%, relatively high for winter here, but it was very 😎sunny.
Wind had an average capacity factor of only 10% for the day, so even lower than the 12% of January 24..... It had a high of 18% at hour 7, but averaged less than 5% for the extended 12-hour period from hour 11 to 22.
The successful completion of a large complex nuclear project, within budget and ahead of schedule is the best way to demonstrate what a highly skilled workforce can accomplish. Congratulations to everyone involved.
The Darlington Refurbishment was more than just a project — it is the foundation for our nuclear future. Together, we've shown major nuclear projects can be done under budget, ahead of schedule. Now, we’re ready to lead & build for the future. Learn more: bit.ly/4bwvOrO

We don't share the author's concern re: the long-term storage of the Gentilly-1 nuclear plant but Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is essential for a strong Canadian nuclear industry. Review is warranted.
