Replying to @caltechedu
@caltechedu marks a historic milestone this week: the investiture of our 10th president Ray Jayawardhana. JPL colleagues gathered at the Lab yesterday to kick-off the celebrations and honor our shared impact with Congresswoman Judy Chu.
Today, members of the JPL community celebrated the inauguration of Ray Jayawardhana as the 10th president of @Caltech, which manages JPL for NASA.
Congratulations, President Jayawardhana! Here’s to the discoveries ahead.

Here’s a look at the hard problems these five universities are tackling:
@Caltech: Expanding our partnership with Caltech to test whether large language models can accelerate innovative research in mathematics and physical sciences – pushing the boundaries of what AI can do in rigorous scientific domains
@OhioStateMed: Developing AI workflows to assist radiologists screening X-rays, building AI tools for earlier heart failure detection, and building clinician-guided AI tools for Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
@LSU: Implementing AI to improve non-contact infant tracheostomy monitoring, neurosurgical outcomes, VR training for medical professionals, and more.
@IndianaUniv: Applying open-weight models to improve maternal-newborn care and learning, with a focus on tools that work with limited connectivity and accommodate diverse cognitive needs.
@UTHealthHouston: Using Muse Glimmer, one of our smallest open-weight models, to support projects that improve treatment for brain cancer and agentic benchmarking in healthcare settings.

so excited for this!! huge thanks @AIatMeta, can't wait to dig into the Muse models with @AnimaAnandkumar at @Caltech and the meta team!
I've already been using Muse Spark Open a lot through Open Math OS from @SAIRfoundation, and they've helped me catch some real issues in some of our libraries!
Congrats to the other teams as well!!

Really excited to share that our work on TorchLean at @Caltech, with @AnimaAnandkumar, has been selected for support through the 2026 AI for Math Fund, run by @RenPhilanthropy and funded by @xtxmarkets.
Since releasing TorchLean, we’ve expanded from verified neural-network execution to autodiff, floating-point semantics, verification, and GPU execution; uncovered bugs and semantic mismatches across major ML stacks; and seen teams at major companies and U.S. national labs begin using it for ML verification.
With this support, we’re excited to push toward formally verified GPU execution and GPU kernel verification—part of a broader goal of making AI and scientific computation trustworthy across the full stack.

Introducing AlphaProtein Novo, a pipeline for de novo enzyme design! In collaboration with @francesarnold's group, we developed AP Novo and used it to get SoTA "novel-scaffold" activity on 2 benchmark reactions and create enzymes to synthesize the pharmaceutical motif piperidine and degrade the environmental toxin DEHP.
Work led by @ZvxyWu @ZiqiLi0513 with teammates @alexechu_ @kelly_ruijie @schulluc @jacobjinkelly @rosaliags @davidla @solserpens @j_reisenbauer, @pengliu_group, Josh, Thomas, Amy, Tristan, Harshnira, and others. It was a joy and privilege to work with you all!
