ALT We are excited to be part of an innovative consortium dedicated to revolutionising the fabrication of battery packs for automobiles with cutting-edge #ElectronBeamWelding technology! The use of electron beam welding for this work promises to deliver energy savings, a smaller factory footprint, less scrap and welding fume control.

ALT During a series of talks from invited speakers, attendees heard first-hand how nuclear fusion technologies are being used to tackle global energy challenges. The event ended with closing remarks from TWI’s #Nuclear and #Fusion Energy Industry Sector Manager, Steve Dodds, who noted that, “The event was a great success, drawing around 60 external attendees and starting some pertinent conversations about manufacturing, inspection and material challenges.” We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the speakers; Carol Watts, Ashley Strange, Thomas P. Davis, Valerie Jamieson, Sam Holdsworth, Fanny Fouin, Harmeet Singh Saggu, Stephen Grigg, Capucine Carpentier, attendees and participants for making this event a great success. We want to thank the experts who joined our panel discussion focused on 'Fusion codes and standards' for their contribution; Ian Bunce, David Bowden, Chris Punshon, Paul Smith, and Marcello Consonni.

ALT Our electron beam expert co-authored the first paper, ‘Laser Heated Cathodes for Electron Beam Welding Applications,’ alongside Paul Plumb of Cambridge Vacuum Engineering Ltd. Colin’s second paper included in the special journal, ‘Demagnetization of Thick Section Steels for Electron Beam Welding,’ examines how the ferromagnetic properties of steels used in nuclear plants can cause electron beam deflection. The monthly scientific and technical journal released a special issue dedicated to scientific papers from the 14th International Conference on Electron Beam Technologies, which took place in Varna, Bulgaria.
