Canton Weekly Update | October 26 to November 1
1. @The_DTCC launched its tokenization service on Canton and its private Besu network. Firms can use it to get tokenized versions of eligible securities held at DTC. Twenty firms signed agreements for access, including J.P. Morgan, Citi and Fidelity Investments.
2. In a treasury pilot, @Uber bought a Franklin Templeton money market fund on @Tradeweb using @HSBC tokenized deposits. It could keep cash invested until it needed it, even selling part of its holding over the weekend. The trades settled on Canton through @FireblocksHQ.
3. @CantonStrategic signed an agreement with TSV to bring its Nasdaq listed shares to Canton. @Fairmint would issue the tokens, and investors could trade them on TSV using @tradecraftfi. The companies targeted November 2 as the earliest trading date.
4. @Nasdaq received a slot to run a validator on Canton’s production network. It plans to use the node for its own apps, starting with tokenized carbon removal certificates. A separate notice approved @dbsbank’s validator application and RBC CM LLC’s request for an additional node.
5. @BlackRock disclosed a 6% stake in Canton Strategic Holdings. Its October 27 filing showed it held about 4.82 million shares in the company as of September 30.

7. On November 1, @RWA_xyz put the value of assets represented on Canton at $351.47 billion. Almost all of it came from @Broadridge’s repo platform, where firms use securities to borrow cash.
8. @cancore_io raised $7.2 million to expand trading between Canton and other blockchains. It plans to connect more networks and make more real-world assets available to trade.
9. Canton’s Super Validators approved a new way to calculate rewards for eligible apps based on the network traffic their transactions generate. A test run is planned for December. Switching to the new calculation requires a further decision.
10. @redstone_defi outlined its work on CAPS, a pricing standard backed by @CantonFdn. Two firms could use a shared market price as a benchmark and keep their negotiated price private.
11. Litecoin miner @LuxxfolioH signed a nonbinding agreement with @Greywick_hq. They’re exploring whether Luxxfolio could use some of its mined Litecoin to back cLTC on Canton and then borrow against those tokens.
12. Canton recorded a validator reward allocation for @a16zfrontier, formerly a16z crypto, under a node run by @MPCH_Labs. The fund can receive those rewards once its milestones are verified.

On Canton, Super Validators earn their weight.
Anyone can apply, and a supermajority vote decides.
A new Super Validator then starts at zero, and weight is assigned only as each milestone is completed and confirmed.
Under recent Super Validator CIPs, weight is earned after approval rather than granted at it.
A new Super Validator joins with weight 0.
As milestones are completed and confirmed, weight is assigned and the associated rewards are released from escrow.
Milestones not met by their deadline lose their associated weight.
In case there was ever any doubt.
"The Division is of the view that Canton Coin is a
“digital commodity”..."
1) Canton Coin is intrinsically linked to and derives its value from the programmatic operation of the Canton Network, as well as supply and demand dynamics, rather than from the expectation of profits from the essential managerial efforts of others.
2) The Canton Network has no “central party”.
