Most tokenized stocks represent shares held in an offchain register.
With $CNTN, the company itself is bringing its shares onchain, and Fairmint will maintain the official shareholder register on Canton.
Actual company equity, with the ownership record onchain.
THE BLOCK: Canton Strategic Holdings aims to become the first publicly traded U.S. company to offer issuer-sponsored tokenized shares for trading on a venue operating under the SEC's new tokenization framework following its September innovation exemption.
$CNTN plans to tokenize its common shares through SEC-registered transfer agent Fairmint and make them available for trading on TSV, a permissioned trading venue on the Canton Network, as early as Nov. 2.
Closing a funding round gets a lot of attention. What happens to the equity afterward gets less.
Shares need to be issued, investor rights recorded, and ownership changes tracked.
That's why the shareholder register matters: it must stay accurate long after the funding announcement.
Issuing shares is only half the job.
Companies need to know what was authorized, who owns each share and whether transfers are valid.
That's why Fairmint is bringing the official shareholder register onchain, making it the foundation for how equity is owned and transferred.
Public companies can now explore bringing their official shareholder register onchain with Fairmint on Canton.

Onchain equities were under $1B at the start of 2026. Stablecoins went from $4.6B to $297B from that point.

Bringing public company shares onchain goes beyond technology.
It requires infrastructure to maintain shareholder records and process transfers.
That's where transfer agents come in.

The next wave could look quite different when public companies start benefiting from bringing their own shares onchain.
We just launched our Onchain Transfer Agent service to make that possible.

Your cap table and official stock ledger aren't always the same thing.
When ownership is disputed, the legal record matters.

If you're putting equity onchain, you probably don't want everyone seeing your shareholder records.
But you might need someone to check them.

Turns out, if you don't explain the benefits to issuers, they generally aren't on board.
S/o @fairmint and @Securitize for doing the hard work. 🤝
