Believing the Eighties were “traumatic” and “brutal” is what got us into the mess we are in today. We weren’t coddled, sure, but the rewards were enormous. Because no one was considered special everyone prospered together, bruises and all. Yet for some reason society chose to trade freedom for safety, excellence for mediocrity, and hard work for comfort. And so now we have a world where people like Mr. Reynolds become rich and famous by manufacturing injustices to keep us all divided. And we are all demonstrably worse off for it.
