Glad Zidane is giving Ligue 1 players like Lepaul & Pagis a chance. They're a level below France's top forwards, but it sends a message: you don't necessarily have to leave Ligue 1 to earn a national team call-up. The French league deserves representation in the NT.

(you get my point when I say Ligue 1, PSG doesn't count)

The goals conceded by Aston Villa & Liverpool show the risk associated w/ players sticking to instructions & patterns of play, failing to react & quickly adapt to a changing situation.

Had these clipped from the PSG game & didn't share them since I was waiting to get more visuals, it was meant to show how many opponents (successfully) use blocks & target our far post in set pieces. We had 2 successive examples in this UCL game. #BarcaAstonVilla

Aston Villa set pieces vs Barça.

CubarsΓ had a good performance vs Jackson, quickly closing space, preventing from turning & winning several duels. OTOH the movements of Cancelo & Gordon on that left wing are dynamic but uncoordinated. Some positional errors by FariΓ±as but understandable. #BarcaAstonVilla #HT

I love this type of crosses. Low-driven, w/ pace & curl. Travels across near, far post & center. Into the space btwn GK & defenders. Everyone hesitates. Unless you quickly adjust body shape & footwork to clear w/ the far foot, theres a risk of an own goal.

Jacquet vs Timber. Across the runner's path + nudge.
Replying to @CaptnGuardiola
One trick when defending one-twos is to run across the runner's trajectory (the initial passer) & subtly nudge him. It doesn't ensure being first to the ball, but it slightly breaks his balance & momentum. It also helps compensate a lack of pace.(CubarsΓ does it often)

The focus of Arsenal defenders in rest defense is truly impressive. Constantly tracking & reducing distances against the forwards as the attack progresses, all the way into the opposition final third if needed.

Despite being a midfielder by trade, I believe Xavi Espart interpreted the inverted left full-back positional demands better than Cancelo. Reads the game faster, adjusts his position (wide vs central, deep vs btwn the lines) & times his pressing actions more quickly & precisely.

I say unfortunately because it involves using your arms & thus puts you at risk of injuring an opponent and/or getting a yellow. It's a balance : play the aerial duel fairly while also protecting yourself from potential injury. You'll never see a 30+ player making this mistake.

You see how CubarsΓ got hit in the face in that aerial challenge? Happens to him many times in aerial duels. As it happened to Gavi last time. Unfortunately you have to somehow protect yourself in those instances to avoid getting injured. Smthg our young players have to learn.

I believe Gavi deserved more playing time by now, as a rotation player to rest Rodri or Pedri, especially since Bernal hasn't proven to add more value than him to our midfield.

I struggle to make sense of a Bouaddi Anderson Enzo midfield 3. Would be very solid defensively a'd to keep the ball, but little creativity going forward or goals (apart from Enzo a bit but it's not like he's Fermin level of box crashing).

Every time I've watched Dro play for PSG, he looked completely overwhelmed by the physical intensity of Ligue 1.

What’s a polite way to tell someone, β€œI’m not discussing this with you because your entire understanding of the subject is built on so many interconnected misconceptions that correcting them would require uninstalling your current worldview and starting the tutorial from birth”?

The lack of understanding of Chinese culture and corporate logic in the MbappΓ© affair is shocking. *Whether he's right or wrong*, did Western commentators honestly expect Chinese brands to just sit back and absorb the damage to their revenue, inventory, and national reputation?

The most useless thing Barça does when pressing high is probably that winger to center back press *without closing the passing lane towards the full-back*. It happened so frequently lately that I wonder if it's premeditated. Opponents move the ball side to side too easily...

Remember those one-twos Bastoni used to play from deep to progress play at Inter? Here's how PSG systematically dealt with them.
